The Manhattan Beach City Council got an earful from a handful of angry residents who want the owner of a pink house covered with two giant emojis to remove them. They say the bizarre paint job is a public nuisance and worry that it will bring down property values. The homeowners claim the house on 39th Street near Highland Avenue was painted hot pink and decorated with the two eye-popping emojis — one with a zipped lip, the other with googly eyes and its sticking tongue out — after the owner, Kathryn Kidd, was fined ,000. Her neighbors had complained to the city she was illegally running a short-term rental.“She was upset the city shut her down and fined her thousands of dollars,” says neighbor Dina Doll. Both emojis, painted several feet tall, have eyelash extensions.Doll doesn’t think it’s a coincidence.“I think it’s not even ambiguous actually. Zip the lip … we all know what that means,” she said, adding: “I think it violates every sense of common decency.”Kidd, who says she’s simply an art lover, disagrees.“It’s a message to me to be positive and happy and love life,” she insisted, adding: “I have eyelash extensions. The eyes are like a Mona Lisa eye. They kind of follow you.”Neighbors point to an Instagram post they say hints at Kidd’s true intentions, however. In a now-edited post with the hashtag “EmojiHouse”, a caption by @ztheart begins: “Are your neighbors constantly ratting you out? Have they cost you thousands in fines? Have you wanted to tell them off lately? Why risk a case, when you can hire me to paint them a pretty message?”Kidd says she has no intention of painting over it.Edward Averday, who’s leasing the house for a year, isn’t bothered by the house’s larger than life decorations: “The only thing I really have to say is this is a really nice place to live. It’s a happy house. From the inside, my view is of the ocean. What’s not to like about that?”Please note: This content carries a strict local market embargo. The NFL has revealed some of its plans regarding Super Bowl LV in Tampa. The league is now planning for 20% capacity at the stadium, ESPN reports.Crowds at football games this year have been mixed, with some teams allowing limited fans and some not allowing any guests.ESPN's Adam Schefter also reports if a Week 18 is added to this regular season, the off week would be eliminated and Super Bowl LV would stay on February 7.Tampa is set to host the Super Bowl, and just last month the NFL said it was preparing for a full house.Thousands are also expected to attend events that week along the Riverwalk downtown.Tampa's Mayor Jane Castor said she had a meeting on Tuesday related to the Super Bowl and plans are in place for 16,000 to 70,000 fans and it will take more time to determine how many people will be allowed to attend."We’re going to put on the most spectacular Super Bowl ever under probably the most different circumstances ever, but this is Tampa and we do things big here so it will be safe and it will be spectacular," she added. The President and CEO of the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce Kelly Flannery said in a statement, "The Super Bowl provides for a considerable economic boost for host cities and our local businesses will benefit from having Super Bowl 55 in Tampa in an incredible way."Rob Higgins with Tampa Bay Sports Commission said they are working closely with the NFL and local public health officials to determine what the capacity will be for the Super Bowl."It is not known at this time. We know that the numbers will evolve over the next few months. We'll be following conditions in the county and the state, and the NFL will make a determination based on approvals locally. Clubs across the league-including the Bucks- are starting to include more fans into stadiums, but are not currently at full capacity," he said in a statement. This article was written by Dan Trujillo for WFTS. 1928

The Hubbard Avenue Diner just outside Madison, Wisconsin announced on their Facebook page that they will soon be serving 'Pie Tacos.'The restaurant, which was been working on the tacos for a while, will start selling them April 12th and will feature four flavors: Apple, Cherry, French Silk and Key Lime. All four versions of the taco will be baked in a pie crust shell and will be served in a traditional taco rack like you'd see at Bel Air Cantina in Milwaukee.Along with the fillings, the Apple Pie will be covered with a streusel topping, the Cherry will have a sugared "lattice" crust on top, the French Silk is topped with whipped cream and chocolate flakes, and the Key Lime is topped with whipped cream and lime zest.Fans of the restaurant certainly seem excited about the idea."Get one? Ha! Getting all four! Sounds delicious!" said Facebook commenter Kris Backes. 880
The NFL announced Monday evening that it has officially canceled its entire preseason schedule as the league prepares for the start of training camp. The announcement comes after the league and players reached an agreement late last week on health and safety procedures amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Among them, players have the ability to opt out of the upcoming season due to coronavirus concerns.Unlike the NBA, MLS and NHL, the NFL currently plans on games in home venues. As the aforementioned leagues have kept players in so-called “bubbles,” the MLB has been holding games in home stadiums. But on Monday, several MLB contests were called off after an outbreak of COVID-19 cases were reported among Miami Marlins players. It’s unclear how many games will be forced to be suspended, but guidelines call for those who come in close contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients to quarantine for 14 days. MLB has not said if the rest of the Marlins roster will be forced to sit out for two weeks.“In the months since the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside down, we have navigated the time carefully, thoughtfully and in partnership with the NFL Players Association with a shared goal of playing a healthy and complete 2020 season,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “This process has not been easy -- COVID-19 will continue to present a major challenge to nearly every area of American life. Football is no exception.”The preseason generally consists of four games per team, which span through the month of August. While the games are largely unimportant for teams as a whole, they serve as a proving ground for players fighting for roster spots.. 1676
The national intelligence director’s office says it can’t begin engaging with President-elect Joe Biden’s team until a federal agency starts the process of transition, which the Trump administration is delaying. The office, which oversees all U.S. intelligence agencies, said it must follow the Presidential Transition Act, which requires the General Services Administration to first ascertain the winner of the election Trump is contesting.Intelligence agencies have given general intelligence briefings -- minus information on covert operations and sources and methods -- to presidential nominees since 1952. Biden started receiving them soon after he became the Democratic presidential nominee. It’s unclear if he is still getting them. Some presidents have allowed their successors to receive the President’s Daily Brief, containing the nation’s most sensitive intelligence information. President Donald Trump would have to authorize Biden to receive that brief.A Biden transition spokesperson declined to comment on the briefings. 1041
