The pandemic nearly derailed a local museum’s yearly family event.“This year is the 75th year of the creation of the book series, called ‘The Railway series,’ where Thomas was born,” said Katy Titus with the San Diego Model Railroad Museum.The Balboa Park museum hosts a Thomas Day Celebration every year. Thousands of kids, families, and train lovers stop at “Big Station” for the big event. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Mexican authorities are investigating a gas explosion at an apartment complex that hospitalized at least three and displaced 150 people on Christmas Day.The explosion happened around noon at the Edificio Hipódromo located at 12609 Col. Alba Roja in Tijuana, one mile south of the stadium Estadio Caliente.This station’s Mexican media partner Televisa reports that the powerful blast caused damage to nearby homes and left debris strewn in the streets on opposite sides of the building.Images from the scene show several windows and glass doors blown out, and collapsed ceilings inside some apartment units.The three victims were described as a 2-year-old child and two adult females, ages 25 and 45. All three were transported by San Diego Fire Rescue to UCSD Medical Center in the United States with second-degree burns. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - It’s a great time to buy a used car. “These deals are once in a lifetime,” said Ivan Drury, a used car expert with Edmunds. Amid the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic, used car prices have been decreasing. According to Bloomberg News, the average price of a used car fell 11.4% from March to April. Drury predicts those prices could continue to fall, as desperate rental car companies start to offload unused inventory. Hertz, which filed for bankruptcy on Friday, has a fleet of about 500,000 vehicles. It’s unclear what their plan is for them, but Drury suspects they will only keep enough to maintain a basic level of service. “That influx of used vehicles will have a dramatic impact on price,” he said. Adding to the supply of used cars, Drury predicts that some drivers who have leased cars will hold on to them for a few more months rather than trade them in. But in several months to a year, he expects that could lead to another flood of used vehicles. “You kind of have a perfect storm for used car values to drop even further,” said Drury. 1090
