The China-Japan-South Korea summit had taken place annually from 2008 to 2012 before it bogged down due to Japanese provocations on historical and territorial issues that angered both China and South Korea.
Sanchita Basu Das, an economics researcher at the ASEAN Studies Center of Singapore's Institute of South East Asian Studies, in a recent interview with Xinhua, called for intra-ASEAN consensus to safeguard the inking of the RCEP deal.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Park Geun-hye attended the summit. They also jointly met with the press and attended a business summit.
Talking about the scenario on the Korean Peninsula, Li said that China is devoted to maintaining peace and stability and realizing the denuclearization on the peninsula. He said that problems should be solved through negations.
China will guide private investment into these sectors, streamline approval procedures and improve fiscal and financing support, the statement said.
