A Milledgeville, Georgia boy was arrested on Friday when a gun discharged from the boy's backpack inside an elementary school, WMAZ-TV reported. The boy attends Lakeview Academy, a school for students in grades 3 through 5. The boy told investigators that he was unaware that there was a gun in his backpack, and that he had never seen the firearm before. The gun reportedly went off as he was going through his backpack in the back of the classroom. After authorities arrived at the school, he was placed under arrest. The boy is facing four charges, according to WMAZ: Carrying a weapon in a school zone; reckless conduct; disrupting or interfering with public school; and possession of a pistol by a person under 18. Baldwin County Sheriff's Maj. Scott Deason told WMAZ that the firearm was a stolen Smith & Wesson 9-millimeter. Deason told the Union Reporter that that student could not explain to investigators how he ended up with the gun.“They questioned the juvenile in the presence of his mother,” Deason told the Union Reporter. “The mother also stated she didn’t know how the gun got into her son’s book bag.”The Union Reporter added that the boy is not allowed back in school until after he goes through the court system. 1320

A white van drove onto a busy Toronto sidewalk, and struck dozens of pedestrians, killing 10 and wounding 15, Toronto Police officials said on Monday. Later in the day, police said that Alek Minassian allegedly targeted the crowd of pedestrians. Police were called to the area of Yonge Street at Finch Avenue around 1:30 p.m. local time after the van fled from the scene. Police have since shutdown the area, and blocked off several streets. Authorities later caught up to the van and its driver.Canadian news agency the CBC reported that the van's driver is in custody.Video from the incident showed several ambulances taking away victims on stretchers from the scene of the incident. Stephen Powell, district chief for Toronto Fire, said that targeted pedestrians for up to one mile. The CBC has reported that part of Toronto's subway service has been shutdown. The area is in the North York neighborhood of Toronto, which is several miles north of Downtown. (CNS) - A 3-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday after the scooter he was riding collided with a compact car in a neighborhood a few miles west of the Viejas Casino.The 2010 Mazda 3 was headed east about 9 a.m. when the unhelmeted youngster rode out of a residential driveway on River Dance Court in Alpine, near South Grade Road in Alpine, and hit the front passenger side of the sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol.Paramedics airlifted the boy to Rady Children's Hospital for treatment of minor to moderately serious trauma, CHP public-affairs Officer Travis Garrow said.The motorist, a 54-year-old El Cajon man, was not expected to be cited in connection with the accident, the spokesman said. 733

Some people are reporting having to wait nearly two weeks for results, in some cases.Arizona State University's Biodesign Institute says their new saliva test could be a real game-changer in getting a better handle on this pandemic.On July 10, ABC15 met Heidy Gonzales who was in line for free testing through the HeroZona Foundation at South Mountain Community College."There are some people who have been coming twice, three times," she explained.That was the story for another young woman we met, Mika, who says she had been to the same testing site the day before and was turned away. After extended family tested positive, she didn't want to take any chances. She says, she didn't have a choice but to come back. And it's not just long lines but also long wait times, with some people waiting as long as two weeks to get results.
