While some fight the constitutionality of the forced closures, others say they do not mind waiting for updated state and federal reopening guidelines. It's another Sunday service to an empty hall at Rock Church in Point Loma, but Senior Pastor Miles McPherson says he still reaches a broad audience online. "Ministry is happening," McPherson said. "We are having church every day. We're just not having service in this building."Friday, faith leaders rejoiced when President Trump deemed houses of worship "essential.""The Governors need to do the right thing and allow these very important essential places of faith to open right now, for this weekend. If they don't do it, I will override the Governors," the President addressed.But according to California's phased reopening plan, religious services fall under Phase 3. We are currently in Phase 2."We look forward to churches reopening in a safe and responsible manner," Governor Gavin Newsom said Friday. "And we have guidelines that we anticipated completing on Monday."The South Bay United Pentecostal Church in Chula Vista filed a lawsuit this month, fighting the Governor's stay-at-home-order, banning the opening of places of worship. But Friday, the Federal Appeals Court rejected their request. On Saturday, the church re-filed an emergency motion to the US Supreme Court to halt the Governor's ban. "California has been discriminating against churches in their reopen plan," South Bay United Pentecostal Church Senior Pastor, Arthur Hodges said. "We should not be in the last stage. We should be in the first stage."While the coronavirus pandemic has many groups tiptoeing around the idea of separation of church and state, McPherson says he is in no hurry to reopen physically. "How services are going to happen is going to depend on the regulations from the CDC, but we will adjust accordingly," McPherson said.  People around the U.S. experienced some internet downtime on Monday. The outage was brief and service has been restored.The culprit was a configuration issue from Level 3, a telecommunications and internet service provider owned by CenturyLink. In a statement to CNN Tech, CenturyLink said a "configuration error" disrupted service and technicians restored service in 90 minutes.CenturyLink declined to provide further details.Though Level 3 was responsible for the issue, it affected other internet providers like Comcast. That's because Level 3's infrastructure delivers content for other internet services.Comcast said the service disruption to its Xfinity internet service has been resolved.According to reports from Down Detector, a website that monitors internet outages, Comcast and Level 3 connectivity was impacted nationwide beginning around 10 a.m. Pacific.Other internet service providers including Spectrum, Verizon, and AT&T showed a spike in connectivity issues, too, though they were not as widespread. (AT&T has agreed to acquire CNN's parent company Time Warner, and the deal is pending regulatory approval.) It's unclear if the spikes were related to the Level 3 outage.The website does not provide numbers of people affected.Following public complaints of widespread outages, rumors temporarily circulated online that the outage was a coordinated hack of some sort. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police believe a University of San Diego professor accused of making threats against fellow professors may have a gun in his possession.Last week, 10News reported on the ordeal unfolding inside USD's Theology and Religious Studies Department: Fliers circulating with three pictures of professors, labeling them "fascists" and urging boycotts of their classes. Versions of the flier with gun cross-hairs were slipped under those professors' doors. 10News has learned two of those professors have filed for restraining orders against fellow professor Louis Komjathy, now suspended by the school.RELATED: Professor accused of threats made against University of San Diego professorsSan Diego Police filed for their own gun violence restraining order to take away any weapons, a request granted by a judge citing "credible information" Komjathy owns one or more firearms, ammunition or magazines. In the restraining order petition, officers say when they asked him about owning a gun, he said, "I do not. Search my apartment and my car if you want."Meanwhile, there are new details about Komjathy's motive for the fliers. Komjathy had been passed over for a promotion, and in the police interview, he reportedly said, "It was supposed to be symbolic representation of having a target on their backs and being singled out. I did not mean to infer violence on anyone ..."The possibility of an actual gun is once again sparking lingering questions raised at a recent student protest, concerns the school didn't notify students in time.
