FILE - In this Sept. 12, 2016, file photo, San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid (35) and quarterback Colin Kaepernick (7) kneel during the national anthem before an NFL football game against the Los Angeles Rams in Santa Clara, Calif. When Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem to take a stand against police brutality, racial injustice and social inequality, he was vilified by people who considered it an offense against the country, the flag and the military. Nearly four years later, it seems more people are starting to side with Kaepernick’s peaceful protest and now are calling out those who don’t understand the intent behind his action. FedEx said Monday they are planning to hire 70,000 seasonal workers as they head into the holidays. In a hiring statement on its website, the shipping company said most of those hired for its "peak season" would be added to its FedEx Ground network."As our team of more than 500,000 team members is busy preparing to deliver the holidays, we once again expect to see a large number of packages traverse our global network over the 2020 peak holiday shipping season," FedEx said. "In order to provide the best possible service during this busy time of the year, FedEx is increasing hours for some existing employees and boosting our workforce with seasonal positions, as needed." The Memphis-based company added that it expanded FedEx Ground’s year-round Sunday residential coverage to nearly 95% of the U.S. population, which went into effect Sunday. 857

Former President Bill Clinton will highlight the second day of speeches from a virtual Democratic National Convention.Among those joining Clinton are former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer.Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, is also expected to deliver remarks.According to CNN and NBC News, former Secretary of State under Republican President George W. Bush Colin Powell will officially endorse Joe Biden on Tuesday.Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the party's most vocal members and a leader in the Democratic party's progressive wing, will deliver a 60-second speech on Tuesday evening. Progressive members of the party have been critical of the DNC's decision to limit Ocasio-Cortez's speaking time, while allowing some Republicans, like former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the opportunity to speak longer.Ocasio-Cortez responded to the criticism by posting, "I only have a minute," a poem by Dr. Benjamin E. Mays. 1092
Former Vice President Joe Biden told supporters Tuesday night to "keep the faith" and have patience, as results trickle in from around the country. Biden spoke from his Delaware home just before 1 a.m. ETCar horns could be heard during his short speech, a familiar sound from Biden's drive-in rallies during the final weeks of the campaign. "We feel good about where we are," Biden told supporters, referencing recent projected wins in Minnesota and what Biden says are positive trends in Pennsylvania and other battleground states. Biden also repeated a sentiment he had shared earlier in the day, as he thanked supporters for their patience. “Presidents don’t decide what votes are counted and not counted; voters determine who’s president.”His comments were a little bit of a surprise, given several key states had not been called yet and Biden's comments earlier in the day. When asked if he would give a speech Tuesday night, Biden simply told reporters, “If there’s something to talk about tonight, I’ll talk about it,” according to the Washington Post.Shortly after Biden's speech, Trump addressed the nation from the White House and falsely claimed victory, and vowed to send the outcome of the Supreme Court should the results prove he lost. In a statement, Biden campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon called the comments "outrageous, unprecedented and incorrect." There had been some questions earlier in the day whether Trump or Former Vice President Joe Biden would give any speech Tuesday night. There has been warnings all week it could take longer for states to count record-levels of mail-in ballots and in-person votes, and there may not be a winner projected in the presidential race Tuesday night.During a stop at his campaign headquarters, President Donald Trump said he was not thinking about any speeches Tuesday night yet. When asked if he had prepared one, he said, “No, I’m not thinking about a concession speech or acceptance speech yet. Hopefully we’ll only be doing one of those two. And you know, winning is easy, losing is never easy, not for me it’s not.”However, Tuesday night, Kellyanne Conway told ABC News the president is planning on giving a speech."You will hear from the president tonight," Conway said when asked if Trump would talk. "The President is expected to address the nation later from the East Room of the White House," Conway explained, adding that four years ago, Trump gave his speech at around 3 a.m.No word what time the president will talk. 2500
