SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Anti-tax advocates rallied Wednesday against an array of bond measures across San Diego County say they will add more than billion in debt to San Diego taxpayers if they all pass. "We have to say no to the big bond bailout of 2018," said anti-tax advocate Carl DeMaio, flanked by a dozen supporters, and Tony Krvaric, chairman of the Republican Party in San Diego County.While calling for an across the board rejection of all bond measures on the ballot, the speakers focused most of their ire on Measure Y-Y, the .5 billion measure for the San Diego Unified School District.RELATED: What you need to know about voting this November"These bonds are used to cover up financial mismanagement in local government. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating a fire that destroyed a car parked on the side of the freeway in Logan Heights early Monday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, The incident happened at about 3 a.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 at Oceanview Blvd.When fire crews arrived, the car was fully engulfed. Firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly.When the smoke cleared, deputies found a rag in the gas tank and says it appeared the car had been set on fire intentionally.No injuries were reported.Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire. 613

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — City Councilman Scott Sherman's newly announced candidacy will alter the race to become San Diego's next mayor.Sherman, termed out from City Council, is the first household Republican to run to lead America's eighth largest city. Sherman announced he would run just before the Dec. 6 deadline to file for the March 2020 primary. Current Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a Republican, is termed out. In an interview, Sherman said he did not want the mayoral debates to be dominated by two big-name Democrats: State Assemblyman Todd Gloria and City Council President Pro-Tem Barbara Bry. Sherman says he'll run on a platform of reducing regulations to bring lower cost market-rate housing. He also wants to increase enforcement of crimes by the homeless, compelling them to seek help. "Listening to the two major candidates there, I'm going, 'Well, things that I care about aren't being discussed so let's see what I can do,'" he said. The Mayor is officially a nonpartisan job, but Sherman is facing an uphill battle as a Republican. The Registrar of Voters reports as of Dec. 2, there were 324,883 Democrats to 162,979 Republicans. There were 238,221 decline to state voters. "You have to assume that Scott Sherman will get the majority, if not the vast majority of Republican votes, and pick up some independent votes," said political analyst John Dadian. "There's a very good chance that he will get in the runoff."The top two vote-getters, regardless of party affiliation, will move on to the November primary. In September, a 10News-Union-Tribune scientific poll showed Gloria leading Bry by a two-to-one margin, with 31 percent of voters supporting Gloria, and 15 percent supporting Bry. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Crews Thursday rescued a woman they say broke her leg while hiking above Blacks Beach.According to authorities, the incident happened around 2 p.m. in the Box Canyon area. Lifeguards say a woman in her 20s fell while hiking in the area and broke her leg.A helicopter could be seen lifting the woman from the canyon and taking her to a nearby hospital.Her condition is unknown at this time. 417
