URUMQI, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The first China-Eurasia Expo that concluded Monday in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, has clinched trade and technical cooperation contracts worth about 130 billion U.S. dollars, expo organizer said.Among all contracts, 5.5 billion dollars are clinched between Chinese and foreign companies, while 124 billion dollars are among Chinese companies, the organizer said.About 50,000 officials and business people from China and about 30 countries, regions and international organizations attended the trade fair, which also attracted an audience of more than 300,000 people.The event was upgraded from the 19-year-old China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair, a regional trade fair, last year.The fair covered an area of nearly 80,000 square meters for its more than 4,000 exhibition booths, according to the organizer.

MOSCOW, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Arctic is getting warmer at a fast pace with the Russian Arctic sector's ice areas contracting to historically low levels, according to Russian meteorological bureau Rosgidromet.According to a Rosgidromet report cited by Itar-Tass news agency Saturday, the polar cap in the Russian sector has shrunk to the historical low registered in 2007, with no ice expected to block the Northern Seaway at least until September."Currently, Arctic navigation conditions are very favorable. By early August, navigation can be done without icebreakers almost along the entire route," said Valery Martyshchenko, head of Rosgidromet's environment pollution monitoring department.According to the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, the current ice cover in the Arctic Ocean is 6,860 million square kilometers, way below average.Martyshchenko said the longer period of icebreaker-free navigation would benefit the regions located in the Arctic area, allowing longer access to food and energy supplies, but the warming of the climate also posed new threats, such as melting of ice and forming of icebergs.

BONN, Germany, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The latest United Nations (UN) climate talks ended here on Friday with no surprise -- some " technical issues" saw some progress, as delegates usually said, while major disagreements remained.The two-week UN climate negotiations have made "clear advances" on such issues as extending carbon trading mechanisms, climate fund management and slowing deforestation, Christiana Figueres, UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) executive secretary, said at a closing press conference.Figueres said delegates from 183 countries stepped forward with a technology mechanism to boost global green technology sharing. The mechanism will include a Climate Technology Center and Network to establish a worldwide clean technology stakeholder community.As for the implementation of a comprehensive package of the Cancun summit last year, this Bonn session has "paved the way" for progress at the next UN ministerial-level climate conference, which is to be held in Durban, South Africa from Nov. 28 to Dec. 9, Figueres said."Strong convergence has emerged on how the Adaptation Committee will be governed, what its composition will be and what its specific role will be," she said. "This progress means that the Committee could be fully operationalized at Durban."The UN climate chief stressed that governments, business circles and civil society cannot solve issues related to climate change "in one meeting," and climate talks are "the most important " negotiations the world has ever seen."The Bonn meeting is practical, focusing on concrete issues. Backup content includes purchased music, apps, camera roll, device settings and app data. It will also automatically upload documents from iWork in the cloud and pushes them to users' all relevant devices.The service will currently be free and replaces the former MobileMe which Apple once charged 99 U.S. dollars per year.Users will get five gigabytes of memory which is not counting purchased apps, music or books. SAN FRANCISCO, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Database giant Oracle on Tuesday announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire FatWire Software, a provider of web experience management solutions.FatWire's solutions provide organizations with ability to deliver relevant customer content, build community engagement and drive site stickiness and loyalty.It currently has more than 500 customers in industries, including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, media, retail, public sector and more. Its key customers include Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Ford and Pfizer.Oracle said in a statement that the acquisition is expected to help Oracle clients improve online engagement across web, mobile and social channels, through website optimizations.The transaction is expected to close mid-year 2011 and the financial details were not disclosed. In its recent acquisitions, Oracle acquired e-commerce software company Art Technology Group for 1 billion U.S. dollars.
