BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government has ordered a crackdown on pirated videos of two Chinese New Year blockbusters "Let the Bullets Fly" and "If You Are the One II."The two Chinese movies are both big hits of the New Year movie season. "Let the Bullets Fly" has raked in over 400 million yuan (59.7 million U.S. dollars) in box office since its debut on Dec. 16, while "If You are the One II" has made 200 million yuan within five days since its release.The crackdown was ordered by the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications and the General Administration of Press and Publication "in order to protect and boost the development of China's film industry," a statement from the office said Friday.The statement said the crackdown is part of a half-year national campaign against infringement of intellectual property rights (IPR), which is underway.The two departments asked local market watchdogs to enhance market inspections to weed out illegal workshops producing pirated video products.
BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese credit rating firm Dagong Global Credit Rating assessed the sovereign credit rating of Ireland at BBB in its third sovereign or regional credit rating report released Monday.Dagong's credit rating of Ireland is lower than that given by Moody's, Standard and Poor's and Fitch."Dagong made its assessment based on factors such as Ireland's increasing debt level, the administrative capability of its government, economic and financial strength," Dagong Global said.Dagong Global's announcement follows the proposed 85-billion-euro bailout of debt-hit Ireland by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.Dagong's report also rated four other nations - Finland, Uruguay, Kenya and Sudan.In terms of domestic currency-denominated debt, Finland received the firm's top AAA rating, but with a negative outlook.Uruguay was rated BB-plus while Kenya received a B rating.Sudan was rated C, the nation's first sovereign credit rating.Dagong Global uses a three-level assessment system, with each level containing three sub-levels. For example, AAA, AA and A.The rating agency published sovereign credit ratings in two earlier reports. One on July 11 rated 50 countries. The second on October 20 rated nine countries and regions.Founded in 1994, Dagong Global is a pioneer in the rating of industry, region and sovereign debt. It is also a leading credit rating firm for corporate bonds, financial bonds and structured debt.

In the article, Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, called for an education and practice campaign in 2011 to foster a politically steadfast, professionally competent and impartial law-enforcement force with a superior work style. BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's health care reform funds - 850 billion yuan (126 billion U.S. dollars) over three years - were mainly used to build a basic medical insurance system for urban and rural residents, said Minister of Finance Xie Xuren Friday.Xie made the remarks at the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), a bimonthly session that began Dec. 20 and will end Dec. 25.The government in April 2009 unveiled a 850 billion yuan three-year plan for national health care reform.With the funds, the government promised universal access to basic health insurance, the introduction of an essential drugs system, improved primary health care facilities, equitable access to basic public health services and a pilot reforms for state-run hospitals.Chinese lawmakers attend a meeting of the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing, capital of China, Dec. 24, 2010. Xie reported that in 2009, the government spent 399.4 billion yuan on health care, with 64.5 billion yuan on the medical insurance system, 24.6 billion yuan on public health services and 21.7 billion yuan on grassroots medical institutions in rural townships and small urban communities.This year's medical and health budget was 443.9 billion yuan, Xie said.By the end of last month, 55.6 billion yuan had been spent on the medical insurance system and 31.6 billion yuan on grass-roots medical institutions, according to statistics from the Ministry of Finance.Xie said the central government will enhance health care reform, strengthen monitoring on the funds' disbursement, and supervise local governments allocation of funds."We will fulfil the 850 billion yuan plan," he said.Thanks to the country's financial support, some 1.26 billion Chinese are covered by the basic medical insurance system, with 424 millon of them in cities and towns and 835 million in rural areas.Under the medical insurance system, governments in urban and rural areas this year paid no less than 120 yuan per person per year in subsidies, with about 60 to 75 percent of inpatient medical expenses being reimbursed.According to Vice Minister of Health Zhang Mao, improving the medical insurance system and decreasing the cost of individuals' medical treatment helps ensure affordable health services for all people.Regarding the increased cost of health care, Zhang urged state-run hospitals to seek less profit and stop over-treating.To make the payment of medical expenses convenient, the government is promoting the use of a one-card system, to allow patients to be reimbursed as soon as possible, Hu Xiaoyi, vice minister for human resources and social security, told lawmakers.According to Hu, more than 800 million cards will be issued during the next five-year program (2011-2015).
BANGKOK, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese military will adopt a more open and cooperative attitude when developing friendly ties with Thailand's armed forces, a senior Chinese defense official said Monday.Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army of China, made the pledge at the 9th Defence and Security Consultations between the Chinese and Thai Defence Ministries.Complex and profound changes are taking place in regional situations, said Ma. It is the responsibility of governments and armed forces in the region to enhance international cooperation, jointly cope with challenges, safeguard regional peace and stability to create favorable security conditions for common development, Ma said.The Chinese military is willing to boost in-depth, wide-ranging and all-dimensional ties with Thailand, building upon past achievements, Ma said.General Kittipong Keskowit, permanent secretary for defence of Thailand, hailed the long-lasting friendly cooperation between Thailand and China.He also expressed Thailand's willingness to continue carrying out close military exchanges and cooperation with China so as to contribute to the eternal friendship between the two countries and to the peace and stability of the region.During the event, Ma, on behalf of the Chinese military, donated 20 transport speedboats to Thailand to support its fight against the current floods.Ma arrived in Thailand on Saturday for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Thai Defence Ministry.
