SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Prosecutors say streetlight camera video revealed the killer of an East Village business owner. A bevy of surveillance and streetlight video was released during the preliminary hearing for Kevin Cartwright and Lorena Espinoza, accused of killing of Tony Radda, 49.October 2018. Just before 3 p.m., store surveillance video shows a woman wearing a purple wig and sunglasses enter the store.Video shows Radda and the woman going towards the back, possibly to show her some merchandise. Right away, a man in a mask is seen trailing behind them, lurking. When Radda and the woman return, the man in the mask attacks Radda, dragging him out of camera range. Prosecutors believe that is when Radda was shot several times and killed.Soon after, the masked man is caught prying open a cash register. Prosecutors say while the woman took off in an SUV; the man walked away.According to prosecutors, that walk was captured by a string of streetlight cameras. In one of the videos - about 12 blocks away from the store - the man in the mask sheds it, revealing a face, police eventually identified as Cartwright. On Friday, the judge is expected to decide whether the two will go to trial. 1206

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police say no one was injured after a vehicle slammed into a downtown San Diego Starbucks Wednesday afternoon. According to police, the crash happened near 10th Avenue and Market Street around 4 p.m. San Diego Police say a semi-truck crashed into a car, causing the vehicle to slam into the building. Police say no one was injured. Photos from the scene show windows of the coffee shop shattered as passersby glanced at the destruction. 465

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Neighbors said the officer-involved-shooting in the South Crest area of San Diego, all started with a machete attack between acquaintances. It was a frightening scene on Boston Avenue Wednesday afternoon. A man was seen lying on the street, clutching his bloody head. Neighbors said he was beaten over the head with a machete. According to San Diego Police, the first 911 call came in at around 5:15 pm.RELATED: Police investigating fatal officer-involved shooting in Southcrest10News spoke to a man who lives at the home where the attack happened. He said the attacker is his sister's boyfriend. He said the boyfriend came over to the house and got into an argument with a family friend over a dog chain. The boyfriend then grabbed a machete and began striking the victim over the head, then to the rest of his body. First responders soon took the victim to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.After the attack, witnesses said they saw the attacker run westbound on Boston Ave., then north onto 40th street. That is where a San Diego Police officer confronted him. The officer first fired a taser to try to mitigate the situation. However, the department spokesperson said the taser was deemed "ineffective." The officer then shot the attacker at least once. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.Those who know the machete-wielding man said he is usually a nice person. But he had been acting up lately. Neighbors said they saw him swinging around a bat a day before the attack. While they knew he had violent tendencies, no one thought it would escalate to this level.  1631

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person was killed after a vehicle drove off the State Route 54 connector to northbound Interstate 5 in the South Bay.The crash was reported just after 3 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the vehicle to drive off the freeway connector.At least one person was killed in the crash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Neighbors in Allied Gardens had a front row seat to a woman’s retirement.The group gathered outside a home as a pre-built granny flat was lifted into the backyard with a crane.Tula Striffler chose the option as a way to be close to her daughter.“I think it’s an economical way for me to still live my life fully and do it on a retirement budget,” said Striffler.Michael Avery owns Instant Guest Homes. He says many of his customers are using the homes for secondary income, or a way to expand their family’s living space.“These home are start to finish 90,000 dollars, everything is included except for the permit fees,” Avery said.Earlier this year, the City of San Diego reduced the cost of granny flat permits, which ranged from ,000 to ,000.After a steady process, Striffler’s home was gently placed in her daughter’s backyard.
