DETROIT — Investigators raided Perry Funeral Home in Detroit late Friday afternoon and have removed nearly 63 infant remains, according to Detroit Police. Officers found 36 fetuses in cardboard boxes and 27 more in freezers. The conditions of the fetuses are unknown.The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has revoked the funeral home's license and shut the facility down. 428

DETROIT — "They strictly thought their so-called white privilege was gonna work this time and it didn't," said Marc Peeples who was acquitted in a directed verdict in a case where three women, who are white, accused Peeples, who is black, of stalking them.The women repeatedly called Detroit Police on Peeples, an urban farmer, who said he wanted to grow a garden in his old neighborhood in the area of 8 Mile and John R on the city's east side. In the beginning, Peeples said one of the women donated soil to his project, but then he and his attorney say it became about power, race and false allegations."These women were clearly lying," said Peeples who was shocked when Detroit Police arrested him after prosecutors charged him with three misdemeanor counts of stalking.This was a case of "gardening while black" said defense attorney Robert Burton-Harris, who represented Peeples at trial.Harris said this is similar to other cases around the country where "you have people calling the police on, mostly,?African-Americans for doing very mundane things.""I wasn't doing anything but planting a seed to help my community grow," said Peeples. 36th District Court Judge E. (AP) — The wife of a man who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Southern California says investigators told her he pushed her out of the way.The Orange County Register reports Saturday that Jacqueline Gibson, of Lake Elsinore, said she was vacationing with her 71-year-old husband Ernest Gibson Monday when they crossed the tracks to return to their Dana Point campground.She says he suddenly told her to run. She found herself on the other side moments later as the train came through.Once it passed, she found her husband's body.She says investigators told her video from the train showed her husband pushing her out of the way.Metrolink officials say the area was restricted. Democrats now lead Republicans by 52% to 41% in a nationwide generic Congressional ballot according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS and released Tuesday. The blue lead has increased slightly from eight percentage points in June of this year to an 11 percentage point difference in the most recent poll.Despite Democrats' advantage on that measure, a plurality (48%) in the same poll believe Republicans will maintain control of Congress after the election, compared with 40% who believe Democrats will gain control.Among those who favor the Democratic candidate in their district, 64% say they think Democrats will ultimately win control of Congress, while among those backing Republican candidates, 83% think the GOP will maintain control.Compared to previous elections, 68% of registered voters say they're more enthusiastic to vote in this election than in the past. Registered Democrats and Republicans report being more excited to vote at similar levels, with 70% and 68% saying so, respectively.However, Democrats have taken a much higher leap in enthusiasm vs. 2016 than Republicans. When CNN last asked the question, in September 2016, only 38% of Democrats said they were "more enthusiastic," while 48% of Republicans said the same.
