QUITO, Ecuador (AP) — Julio Mora slipped away from his parents to secretly marry Waldramina Quinteros one February day. Both families disapproved. But seventy-nine years later, they’re still together — he at 110 years of age, and she at 104. Both are lucid and in good health, though relatives say they’re a little depressed because they miss their big family get-togethers due to the pandemic. And they can gather quite a crowd: four surviving children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.There are longer marriages, but at the moment none between people so old — just short of a combined 215 years. It's a mark now certified by Guinness World Records. The couple received a certification earlier this month. Previously listed as the oldest were an Austin, Texas, couple, Charlotte Henderson and John Henderson who have a combined age of 212 years and 52 days. 906

Rescuers with high-water vehicles have been rescuing people on the Gulf Coast cut off by floodwaters after Hurricane Sally. Crews were pulling people out of flooded areas Thursday near Pensacola, Florida, while Alabama National Guard troops helped people evacuate near Mobile Bay. Homeowners and businesses along the soggy Gulf Coast were cleaning up, even as some communities dealt with flooding from rivers and creeks swollen by the storm’s heavy rains. At least one death is blamed on Sally, whose rainy remnants are currently over South Carolina."16 years ago to the day when hurricane Ivan hit our state, hurricane Sally provided an unwanted sequel citizens are woke to extensive damage and destructive property and loss of power and infrastructure. And sadly, even the loss of life, when it could be much worse, it's been mighty bad. And our state is reeling just as our people are hurting," Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said. 934

RAMONA, CA (KGTV) -- Thanks to the San Diego Humane Society's Project Wildlife, an orphaned mountain lion pup has a second chance at life. The Humane Society acquired the Fund for Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona on September 1st, and the very next day, the 12 week old mountain lion pup was their very first patient."We got a call from California Fish and Wildlife," says Project Wildlife Director Andy Blue. "That a firefighter had found a mountain lion cub in distress up near Idyllwild."The female cub was found semi-conscious, extremely emaciated, and dehydrated."When she first arrived here in Ramona, she appeared to be in pretty bad shape, and I wasn't sure she was going to survive."That's when the Project Wildlife team stepped in and provided the cub life saving treatment."We immediately gave her critical care supplies, got a diet syringe fed to her, and did everything we needed to do to turn it around."And a little over a month later, with the great care from Project Wildlife, Blue says the cub is expected to make a full recovery. "Now she is completely stable and will most likely be going to another facility in Arizona." You might think that once animals have rehabbed, they would be let back out into the wild.. Well that's not always the case.""Because she's had so much human contact, we really can't release her back into the wild. Our goal is to rehab animals and release them back into the wild, but in her case, it's not a good idea."The plan is to relocate the lion cub to a facility in Arizona by next week. 1548
