SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Mayor Kevin Faulconer, County Supervisor Ron Roberts and county health officials announced Tuesday a plan of "Vaccination, Sanitation & Education" to stop San Diego's hepatitis A outbreak."This is our community and we are working day and night to take care of it. It is going to require a sustained effort and everyone in San Diego County has a role to play," Mayor Faulconer said. The county's top medical professionals say there is no end in sight to the outbreak that began in March. RELATED: San Diego Hepatitis A death toll, those sickened rises"This outbreak could last another six months and unfortunately there are going to be more lives that are going to be at risk," said Dr. Nick Yphantides, the county's chief medical examiner at a news conference outside the county administration building. Officials gave critical updates about the outbreak, which has killed 16 people and sickened 444 others. While most of the cases involved the homeless or drug users, 25 percent of the patients were neither, health officials said.Hepatitis A is a highly contagious liver infection that is usually transmitted by fecal-oral or person-to-person contact, or consumption of contaminated food or water. The change was announced by its producers Sunday at the end of a sold-out three day festival, its fifth at the North County location. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - It’s the largest loss of life in United States Navy history and you can read an award-winning account of it by two San Diego authors. ‘Indianapolis: The True Story of the Worst Sea Disaster in U.S. Naval History and the Fifty-Year Fight to Exonerate an Innocent Man’ is being released as a paperback after the hardcover became a New York Times bestseller. Sara Vladic and Lynn Vincent wrote the book together after researching it for more than 17 years. “It’s so much more than a sinking story and a shark story,” said author Lynn Vincent. Vladic spent nearly two decades interviewing survivors from the sinking USS Indianapolis. “Getting to know these men and their story and heroism and what it took to survive those days is incredible,” added Vladic, “it still teaches us lessons today of what the cost of freedom really is and what we should be remembering.” The book is cinematically written and presents multiple accounts from the men that had to fend off sharks and each other for several days at sea after the heavy cruiser was sank by the Japanese during WWII. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — If you've noticed the sharp increase in gas prices around San Diego lately, chances are we're not done.The average price for a gallon of gas Saturday was .77 in San Diego, according to AAA, jumping another four cents since Friday and reaching the highest San Diego has seen in about five months.At this time last month, San Diegans were paying on average 46 cents less per gallon. A year ago, 23 cents less. The closest San Diego's average has come in recent months to was .84 on average in Oct. 2018, according to Gas Buddy.GAS MAP: Search for the cheapest gallon in San Diego with our Gas Map"Four dollars a gallon on average is certainly within the realm of possibility given today's average is .73 and wholesale prices went up some 18 cents," Patrick HeHaan, with GasBuddy, told 10News. "That, in addition to the increases that are already coming down the pipeline, will likely thrust San Diego to that a gallon mark. That's something we have not seen in four, call it five years."AAA says a series of refinery issues have reduced gas supplies. According to Bloomberg, Valero Energy Corp's refinery in the Bay Area, Phillips 66 refinery in Los Angeles, and Chevron Corp.'s El Segundo plants have all seen shut downs and halts in oil production this month due to various problems.Nationally, gas has been averaging .73 a gallon. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Mixed Martial Arts fighter, Dean "The Boogeyman" Lister is asking the public to help him find a man he found inside his apartment. Lister, a Jiu Jitsu champion, has taken down opponents around the world - but he never expected a fight in his home. "I thought somebody was working in the apartment," he said, describing the man as covered in tattoos and wearing only a pair of boxers.Lister said the man wasn't making any sense, and soon Lister started to record him. In the video the man is heard saying that he went into the apartment because he thought it was a church. When the man realized that he was being record, Lister said he reached for a hammer - a moment that can be seen just before the video ends. Lister is a gun owner, and said he reached for his weapon when the stranger threatened him. At that point, the man got scared and Lister let him escape out the same window he broke in through. When police arrived, the man was gone. "I'm not trying to sound like any kind of saint," Lister said. "But whatever kind of money I lost, maybe it's not worth someone dying."Lister posted the video on Youtube and shared it with 10News in hopes that someone would recognize the intruder. "Hopefully he turns his life around," Lister said.   1327
