Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday blocked efforts by his Democratic counterpart to pass via unanimous consent a resolution to make public special counsel Robert Mueller's report, the second time Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has tried to do so.McConnell objected this time saying he wants to give Attorney General William Barr and Mueller time to complete their investigations and because Barr has committed to make as much of the report public, but he shouldn't be rushed."It's not unreasonable to give the special counsel and the Justice Department just a little time to complete their review in a professional and responsible manner," McConnell said on the Senate floor. "Remember, as I said earlier, we're likely dealing here with potential other prosecutions, classified information, damaging people's reputation. There's no evidence that the attorney general is not going to produce as much information as possible for all of us, and that's why I objected. I think it's a reasonable thing to do."Schumer criticized McConnell's objections, saying Republicans support the language in his resolution."This language was good enough for every Republican in the Senate as well as every Democrat," Schumer said following McConnell remarks. "The President himself says it should be released. It's hard to understand why the majority leader should stand alone with objections no one else found to be reasonable or sustainable and oppose this resolution. Researchers from the British Psychological Society released a report last week challenging stereotypes on why people are obese. The report states that "obesity is not simply down to an individual’s lack of willpower." The report claims there are a number of circumstances, some of which beyond a person's control, for becoming obese. "The people who are most likely to be an unhealthy weight are those who have a high genetic risk of developing obesity and whose lives are also shaped by work, school and social environments that promote overeating and inactivity," the BPS report says. "People who live in deprived areas often experience high levels of stress, including major life challenges and trauma, often their neighborhoods offer few opportunities and incentives for physical activity and options for accessing affordable healthy food are limited.""Research evidence points strongly to genes being a major part of the explanation for why some people are more susceptible to becoming obese than others," the BPS report continues.The report comes as 40 percent of American adults are considered obese, according to CDC figures.Fat shaming does not workThree weeks ago, late night comedian Bill Maher gave a controversial dialog on obesity, which he admitted was "fat shaming." Searchers have found a third body buried by an avalanche at an Idaho ski resort, and they confirmed it is a person who was reported missing on Wednesday. Tuesday's avalanche at the Silver Mountain Resort killed two other people and injured four. Searchers in a helicopter spotted the missing person's body on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office has identified two of the dead as 58-year-old Carl Humphreys of Liberty Lake, Washington, and 46-year-old Scott Parsons of Spokane Valley, Washington. Rally's and Checkers restaurants reported Wednesday that it had discovered malware in its payment system, raising security concerns for customers at dozens of their restaurants in 20 states.According to a press release, the chain discovered the software on its point-of-sale system, leaving customers' credit card information vulnerable. The chain reports that customers' "cardholder name, payment card number, card verification code and expiration dates," may have been lifted.The restaurant chain is encouraging customers to monitor their credit card accounts of suspicious activity.
