SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Francis Parker School officials say a vendor that handles some of the school's backup data was victim of a ransomware attack in May. The school says third-party cloud computing provider, Blackbaud, Inc., notified them on July 16 of the cyberattack. Criminals demanded payment in return for destroying information they copied from Blackbaud's database, the school said.School officials warned parents that the compromised database may have included contact information, birth dates, and a history of relationships with the school, including donation dates and amounts. The school said the attackers did not access credit card information, social security, or other personal financial information and had no access to the school's systems.Blackbaud paid the ransomware and says based on the nature of the incident and investigations with law enforcement, there's no reason to believe any data went beyond the cybercriminals or was, or will be, misused.Francis Parker officials said they are reevaluating their relationship with Blackbaud. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Employees at Sovereign Health in Rancho San Diego tell 10News they have not been paid for weeks.Tracy Hydorn is one of those employees. She wiped away tears, thinking about her piling expenses."I haven't been able to send my son to his prom, buy his yearbook, get tires on my car," Hydorn said. She got emotional as she talked about being able to do "basic paying" of items.Hydorn works at the Sovereign Health facility on Steele Canyon Road. She said her paychecks are five weeks behind."The people that I work with are good people and they're working hard, but the corporation doesn't care at all," Hydorn said.She is not alone. The company has six locations across the country with about 500 employees. Eugene, a driver for Sovereign Health in Florida, said his paychecks are weeks late. He was forced to take on another job as an Uber driver to make money. "I Uber'ed until 5:30 in the morning... and still didn't make enough money to pay my rent," Eugene said.A spokesperson for Sovereign Health told Team 10 payroll issues have been going on throughout the company for six weeks due to a transition to a new vendor. He would not say who that vendor was. They are hoping the situation will be taken care of by early next week and apologized to its employees. Hydorn is trying to hang on, but she is tired of the company's excuses."If anything they had said had been genuine or you could believe it, it would be easier to deal with," she said.  1496

The school confirmed the Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Phi chapters are under investigation. The school says an incident happened at the frat house on Halloween. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Homicide detectives are investigating after a man died in Hillcrest early Sunday morning. According to Lieutenant Anthony Dupree, a passerby was walking near Albert Street and Upas Street around 5:30 a.m. when he saw a man with trauma to his body and called police. The passerby performed life-saving efforts on the man before paramedics arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, Dupree said. According to police, the man was between the ages of 25 and 30, but his identity is unknown at this time. Dupree said detectives are going door-to-door in the area to find out if anyone heard anything. 635

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- High surf is creating dangerous conditions for swimmers hitting the beach throughout San Diego County. A High Surf Advisory is in effect San Diego coastal cities from Monday morning at 8 A.M. until Tuesday night at 10 P.M.Just before 10 A.M. Monday, SDFD Lifeguards shut down the Ocean Beach Pier.They are also cautioning any swimmers and surfers who are not advanced to stay out of the water until the advisory expires.Many advanced surfers tell 10News they have been looking forward to this day for a long time. Those who hit the water Monday took advantage of the seven to 11 foot waves along the coast, saying it’s not just the swell and the direction but the time between the waves and the decreased winds that make for great surf conditions. "The quality and the length its just a great day a great day for everybody,” one surfer tells 10 News.One group of surfers found out first-hand how dangerous these conditions are. They were taking a boat to surf off of Point Loma when the waves flipped in Monday afternoon. The surfers escaped without injury, but the boat had to be towed back to shore. 1130
