SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- After years of setbacks and construction, part of One Paseo is getting ready to open its doors in Carmel Valley. The company behind the project plans to open the multi-concept development in phases, with the retail space scheduled to open first in the beginning of March. The residential area is set to open in the summer of 2019 with offices on the property following in 2020. RELATED: Salt & Straw to open second San Diego shop at One PaseoThe property includes 96,000 square feet of shops and restaurants, 608 residential units and 286,000 square feet of real estate. The City Council approved the much larger original project in 2015, but it was overturned after opponents collected 60,000 signatures on a petition. Council members urged the project's developer, Kilroy Realty, and its opponents to reach a compromise. The downsized One Paseo project was approved by San Diego’s City Council 8-1 in mid 2016. RELATED: City Council approves slimmed down One Paseo"It's great to see the two sides coming together and working out an agreement, and coming to terms of a settlement that had been worked out earlier," Councilwoman Lorie Zapf told 10News in 2016. "When you see a lot of the former foes here now in support and praising the community outreach efforts, it's a huge difference from (prior) meetings that we had here."Check out the list below for shops and restaurants in the retail space so far: International SmokeThe ButcheryWays & MeansDrybarNathan WestCurbarColor CounterSusie CakesMizukiyama SushiSalt & StrawPigmentNorth ItaliaWhiskey + LeatherMarrow FineVan De VortJoe the JuiceParakeet CafeTender GreensUrban Beach HouseShop GoodSoulcycle 1692

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An ash-filled stolen trailer in Miramar contained heartbreak for more than 100 military families in the form of hand-carved model aircraft burned and damaged. Many of the coveted items are simply too far gone from the damages."They are hand-carved, hand-painted and personalized," said John Pineda, who owns Squadron Toys.He says his model aircraft are ordered by service members and veterans - and their loved ones to commemorate service. Many of them are gifts for a retirement or Christmas. Those gifts disappeared overnight, in minutes."We are heartbroken," said Pineda. He showed 10News the surveillance video.Just past 1 a.m. on Nov. 3, a U-Haul truck drives into the parking lot. Five minutes later, you can see it again, this time hauling Pineda's trailer, filled with more than a hundred model aircraft to be shipped out the next morning. The discovery of his trailer missing was followed a week later by a call from the CHP.The trailer was found on fire on a street in Vista. He towed it back Thursday.Pineda looked in the trailer and found about 60 of the models were missing. There were also burned model planes and helicopters. The others have scratches and water damage from the firefight. All are ruined.Since each aircraft takes four months to make, they won't be done in time for Christmas."Whoever is responsible actually stole Christmas from a lot of people," said Pineda. Each model cost several hundred dollars and is personalized with a name, call sign and squadron markings. If you have any information on the case, call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1618

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego woman has been reunited with her four-legged soulmate after he was stolen and sold on Craigslist.Kameroun Mares bought her dog Semper Fidelis after her battle with leukemia.“Yes, it’s the Marine Corps motto, but in Latin, it translates to 'Always Faithful,'" said Mares. “He is always faithful to me.”After a few years together the two moved to Florida for what Mares thought would be a fresh start.RELATED: Slow-moving search for owner of El Cajon tortoiseHowever, it turned out to be the start of a nightmare. While on a trip back to California for a medical appointment her roommate said Semper had run away.“I had so many nightmares of what, where is he? Why did I not get a phone call? He has a microchip, why did I not get a call?"Her desperate search turned no leads, and eventually, she moved back to California, continuing the search digitally.A year later, someone in a forum suggested checking Semper’s microchip on the American Animal Hospital Association microchip database.RELATED: Making It in San Diego: Affording the cost of pet ownershipIt showed the microchip as being registered to both Mares and a second owner.Mares' ex-roommate sold Semper on Craigslist for 0.The people who bought him were able to register the microchip with a different company, Pet Key.“What’s the point of having a microchip if another company can add its details without checking with you?" Mares said.Mares enlisted help from a private investigator and an attorney.RELATED: Woman claims dog was injured at pet daycareNearly three years, and a court battle later, she was reunited with Semper.“I saw him in the car and knew it was him, I was so shaky, I just broke down, I just broke down," said Mares.10News reached out to microchipping company Pet Key but has not yet heard back. However, through the Pet Key Facebook page, a representative told Mares' private investigator that it’s not their policy to check a microchip before registering and that many chips are registered with more than one company.Mares hopes her story enacts policy change in the microchipping industry so this doesn't continue to happen to families. 2171
