She put in her phone number and address and a week later she got a package in the mail. They opened it and found a check for ,355, plus detailed instructions that told her to deposit the check and then within 24 hours, buy two 0 Walmart gift cards, scratch off the back, take a picture and send it in so they can get their money back."I was like who is sending you a ,300 check? That’s insane. You’re 19 years old,” said Christy Bidgood, Earley’s mom.Her age falls in line with research from the Federal Trade Commission that say the highest number of fake check scam victims are people in their 20s because they don’t understand how checks work. The BBB says it can take a week or two for a check to bounce, yet banks typically release the money into the account sooner than that."Yeah I do have a lack of knowledge about checks so I think people that don’t understand checks, they are definitely going to fall for it,” Earley said. The BBB says be wary of a company that overpays an employee and then asks them for money to be wired elsewhere. for allegedly abusing two students on his bus. Mesa police report that on Tuesday, Jamie Tellez, 50, was driving a bus for Mesa Public Schools in the area of Recker Road and University Drive. Police say there were two students left on the bus when a 10-year-old student threw trash toward a trash can at the front of the bus. Court records show that Tellez "abruptly stopped the bus in the middle of the street, causing the other 11-year-old child to fly forward, striking his head on the windshield. Police say the impact caused a large crack in the windshield. Tellez then allegedly grabbed the victim by his backpack and pushed him to the rear of the bus. He then cursed and threatened to beat the other student, police say. 730

for setting an illegal trap in Missoula, Montana, that killed a young dog.Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks regional supervisor Randy Arnold says the illegal trap was set near the Clark Fork River off of Hiberta Street.A family with their dog were recreating in that area on Sunday, when their 17-month old dog was caught in the trap and died. The two men were cited with state charges; one count of failure to appropriately mark the trap and one count of an illegal ground set. Missoula Animal Control also cited the men for illegally trapping within city limits.Arnold says this was uncommon and very disappointing, saying setting illegal traps in obvious public places is something state wildlife agencies do not condone."By setting traps in a way in violation of how ground sets need to be set, puts at risk dogs and anybody recreating in the area," Arnold said. "Those regulations are in place to prevent these things from happening. If someone violates these regulations then you get these really unfortunate accidents."This article was written by Melissa Rafferty for KPAX. 1084
