Comedian Conan O’Brien’s 28-year run on late-night television will come to an end in 2021, O’Brien announced on Tuesday.As part of O’Brien’s announcement, the television stalwart will be producing a new weekly variety series on HBO Max. CINCINNATI, Ohio — An Ohio man who falsely claimed in 2019 to be a long-missing boy received a mandatory two-year federal prison sentence on Tuesday after pleading guilty to aggravated identity theft.U.S. District Court Judge Michael Barrett gave Brian Rini, 25, credit for time served in jail, where Rini has been detained for nearly 21 months. That means Rini will be released from prison in about three and a half months.In April 2019, Rini told federal agents he was Timmothy Pitzen, an Aurora, Illinois, boy who disappeared at age 6 in 2011.Rini claimed he was also a sex trafficking victim who escaped from his captors.His lies prompted a massive federal, state and local investigation and raised the hopes of the Pitzen family, only to see them crushed again when the FBI soon exposed Rini's lie."I just want to say I'm sorry for what I've done and that I wish that I could just take it back," Rini said during a video hearing in Cincinnati. "I'm sorry for the family."Rini has twice before made bogus claims about being a juvenile sex trafficking victim and only admitted to the hoax this time after being confronted with the results of a DNA test, according to the FBI."He can't keep doing this. This is no way to live his own life and he really needs to think of the people that he hurts when he does this," said Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Healey, who prosecuted the case.Healey said Rini's lies prompted a major criminal investigation that pulled important law enforcement resources away from other cases, and caused "an enormous amount of unnecessary pain to the victim's family.""He needs to understand that when he tells lies like this it does cause damage. CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ind. — A Wisconsin man drowned on Sunday when he jumped into a southern Indiana lake in an effort to save two women who fell off a towable tube and were struggling to stay afloat.According to a report from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, an Indiana conservation officer was on boat patrol on Patoka Lake in Crawford County around 2:51 p.m. Sunday when witnesses alerted him to a possible drowning. Multiple 911 calls came in shortly after reporting that a man had disappeared in the water.Conservation officers said two females were aboard the towable tube affixed to a stationary rental boat by a rope when they fell off the tube and struggled to stay afloat.Multiple people from the rental boat jumped in to assist and rescued one of the females. One of the people who jumped in to help, Travis Ray St. Martin, 33, of Racine, Wisc., disappeared under the water.The other female, K'neisha Adams, 25, of Burke, Virginia, was rescued by a group of people from a separate boat. She was taken by medical helicopter to University of Louisville Hospital and later released.Conservation officer public safety divers recovered St. Martin's body around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.The Crawford County Coroner's Office has preliminarily ruled the cause of death as accidental drowning.Conservation officers said alcohol and drugs are not suspected of being contributing factors.The DNR said although there were adequate life jackets on the rental boat, none were in use.This story was originally published by Bob Blake at WRTV. 1545

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Rapper Kanye West used part of his first event since declaring himself a presidential candidate to rant against historical figure Harriet Tubman. West said the Underground Railroad conductor “never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other white people." West's comments drew shouts of opposition from some in the crowd gathered Sunday in North Charleston, South Carolina. His appearance was marked by a lengthy monologue touching on topics from abortion and religion to international trade and licensing deals. At one point he said he and wife Kim Kardashian had considered terminating their first pregnancy. Several sources report West became tearful during the speech Sunday, explaining how a message from God changed his mind and he got a call from Kardashian saying they were going to have the baby. North West was born in 2013. Whether West is actually seeking the nation’s highest office remains a question. Last week he met the requirements to appear on Oklahoma's presidential ballot. An Oklahoma elections spokeswoman says a West representative submitted paperwork and the ,000 filing fee Wednesday for the state's Nov. 3 ballot. A West adviser told New York Magazine that West was out, but TMZ reports his campaign filed with the Federal Election Commission. CORONADO, Calif., (KGTV)— Coronado residents are split on whether a fenced-in, off-leash dog park would be a welcome addition, next to a childcare facility and the Coronado School District building. The district office is located on 6th Street, just east of Naval Air Station North Island. Coronado’s famous dog beach is where dogs can be dogs: run freely on the sand, splash around, and play with their humans. But soon, something similar could be coming about a mile north on the island. Last week, the Coronado Unified School District and the City of Coronado announced that they are negotiating changes to their Facilities Joint Use Agreement. A portion of the 3/4 acre grassy area, between the district office and the childcare facility on 6th Street could be converted into a fenced-in dog park.“I think a lot of the homeowners and parents were blindsided by this,” Emily Foster said. Foster lives across the street.  The mother of three small children believes having a portion of the grass become a dog park would be unsanitary.“We’re concerned about run-off through the shared sprinkler system of animal waste,” Foster said. “We’re concerned about fleas and ticks.” With a smaller space, Foster believes her kids will not be able to play like they once did. No more Jog-athons. No more parachutes. No more fun.“It’s the only grassy area where Village Elementary kids have for PE and recess,” Foster said. “Everything has been replaced by blacktop or artificial turf.”The school district’s proposal explains that the dog park will only be one-third of the entire green space, about one-quarter of an acre, with the entrance on the school district side. A double fence will separate the children's green space from the dog park. Plus, the City of Coronado will contribute ,000 to the district every year to maintain the area. That money will go directly back to Coronado kids.“If the elected officials of the school board didn’t think this was in the best interest of the students, I don’t see that they would be doing this,” Holidais Moreira said. Moreira has been working for two years to get a fenced-in dog park in the city, especially for her 13-year-old rescue, Happy Kapi. Kapi’s joints are not what they used to be, so the dog beach is not an option. A ride to the Cays dog park is not far. But she said she would rather take her dog to a dog park that is fenced-in.The district is now asking Council for a one-year trial period to evaluate the use of impact on the community.“Every park allows children. Not every one allows dogs,” Moreira said. “As a resident and a taxpayer, I see no reason why those of us who have dogs should not have the same rights as the other people who have kids and think those parks should be only reserved for children.” “People of Coronado want a dog park, a safe place that their dogs can run and play,” Foster agreed. “But we should look at other options in the city where that can happen, where it’s not a detriment to the children.”The Coronado City Council will be discussing the issue at their next council meeting on Tuesday, August 21 at 4 pm. 3193
