A Georgia woman and her ex-boyfriend were arguing in her car two years ago when her driver's side window shattered and she blacked out.When she came to, she was in his car, not hers, and they went to his mother's house because she had a head wound.She thought she had been cut by flying glass. But her ex, Jerrontae Cain, had a secret -- he had shot her.Thursday, a judge sentenced Cain, 39, to 25 years in prison for several crimes including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. Cain had been convicted of felony sexual battery in 2010.For a month after the shooting in 2017, the woman stayed at Cain's mother's house, suffering through severe headaches, dealing with memory loss and having trouble when she tried to talk, according to a news release from the Fulton County District Attorney's office. In June that year, a friend took her to the hospital.Doctors at Atlanta Medical Center found a bullet in the back of her skull, one that would have to remain there because trying to take it out could kill her, the DA's office said.Hospital staff alerted investigators, and the woman told them she didn't remember being shot -- she just recalled the window breaking.Cain told police the woman, now 42, had crashed her car into a tree. But detectives found the crime scene inconsistent with his explanation, according to the DA's office.They issued an arrest warrant but Cain was not caught until January 2019, more than a year later, when police showed up at a home in College Park, just south of Atlanta. He hid in an attic during a two-hour standoff until he surrendered, the DA's office said.Cain was also sentenced to five years of probation to be served after his prison term. 1738

People over the age of 50 are one of the fastest growing group of video game players in the country and that is translating into big bucks. It’s a trend that can be seen at the Hayes Senior Wellness Center in Washington, D.C. That is where afternoons are a time to get up and strike in video game bowling. “It’s fun,” said 62-year-old Karen Glymph. “It brings you up, makes you laugh.” Glymph plays to win, even though video games are not what this generation grew up with. “We didn’t have this then,” she said. “Most everybody wanted to go outside. Now, they want to stay and play video games.” That is especially true for seniors, according to a new study by the AARP. “Gaming and technology – that's where we see a bigger shift,” said Alison Bryant, AARP senior vice president of research. How big is the shift? In 2016, about 40 million people over the age of 50 played video games monthly. By 2019, that number soared to more than 50 million. That means 44% of all seniors are now regularly playing video games. All of this is turning into big business, because the amount of money seniors spent on video games last year alone totaled billion. “I hope that the gaming industry is going to start taking a look at these numbers and saying, ‘wait a minute. There's really an opportunity here to increase our market share’ and to develop games that might be even more exciting for older adults,” Bryant said. A Florida man is facing a charge of attempted murder after body camera and dashcam video showed him dragging a sheriff's deputy with his car during a traffic stop.Rocky Rudolph, 38, of Apopka, Florida, was pulled over by Seminole County Sheriff's Deputy Aaron Blais Saturday.The body camera footage released by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office Sunday shows the deputy and the driver having a calm, friendly interaction in the first few minutes of the traffic stop after Blais tells Rudolph he pulled him over for having tinted windows. The two men even joke with each other about the suspect's unusual name.But things turn sour when Blais asks Rudolph if he has any marijuana in the vehicle before telling him to turn off his vehicle.Instead, Rudolph throws the car in drive as the deputy hangs out of the window screaming for the driver to stop.Rudolph briefly stops and Blais points a gun at him ordering him to stop the car before Rudolph pulls off again toward a highway.Dashcam video shows the deputy fall off of the vehicle as it speeds away.The sheriff's office searched for Rudolph following the incident and he was taken into custody shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the department said.Blais was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from the hospital Saturday, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.Rudolph is being held without bond in Seminole County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting an officer with violence, according to the county jail roster.A court appearance for Rudolph is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday.CNN has not determined whether Rudolph currently has legal representation in this case. 1764
