SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — After more than two decades, legal street racing at Mission Valley's stadium site are coming to an end.Due to financial reasons, organizers have been forced the end the event after 21 years. Friday, thousands rolled into the stadium parking lot to see off Racelegal."What this shows me is the car culture has always been great in Southern California, this is showing the support and so much that the people want this to be here," said Peter Scalzo, the drag strip's owner.In an open letter on the organization's website, Executive Director Lydia DeNecochea said in part that she hopes San Diego will continue to fight preventable deaths due to illegal street racing."The 21 years of success is due to the support of San Diego’s infrastructure and the community of San Diego standing together to stop the predictable and preventable tragic loss of young lives due to an illegal street racing crash," DeNecochea said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego photographer is searching for a mystery couple seen in a Sunset Cliffs engagement photo.Elmer Rodriguez says he was out for a walk with his kids taking pictures of the sunset in late February. When he looked off to the side, he says he spotted the couple in the distance and decided to capture the special moment. “I decided it’s a good memory and they should have it,” Rodriguez said. But when Rodriguez walked over to meet the couple, he says they vanished. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Ocean Beach man says he was home when two burglars in a white Mercedes-Benz were raiding his garage and stealing his vehicle.      Along Lotus Street last week around 1:30 in the afternoon, Evan Montoya was in his upstairs bedroom and never heard a thing.  But when he later went down to the garage, he noticed some things were out of place and his car keys were gone.  Outside, the car belonging to Montoya - an Uber and Lyft driver - was nowhere to be found."My heart sank into the pit of my stomach.  That's my livelihood.  They took my entire world when they took my car," said Montoya.But that was hardly the entire loss.  Montoya believes the intruders slipped under the garage door - left open because the garage gets hot - before grabbing anything electric."Basically they went on a shopping spree through our garage and took whatever they wanted," said Montoya.  After the break-in, a neighbor handed him surveillance video showing a white Mercedes sedan stopping in the alley in front of the garage.  In the video, a man and a woman are seen going back and forth to their garage, before they finally drive off."Makes you feel unsafe in your home, which is the one place you're supposed to feel safe," said Montoya.Montoya's car was found abandoned a few days later.  Meanwhile, the video has been shared by neighbors across social media.  Some seven other neighbors have reported similar, recent break-ins. "People going through alleys stealing from houses," said Montoya.If you have any information on the cases, call Crimestoppers at 888-580-8477. 1659

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A total of 444 total confirmed and probable cases have been identified among San Diego State University students, the school said Wednesday.According to SDSU, 440 students have tested positive for COVID-19 with four students who have probable cases.San Diego County health officials added that one of the students was hospitalized. Their condition is unclear at this time.
