The incident, caused when a Chevy Silverado lost a spare tire, happened on the westbound 78 near the Sycamore Avenue, according to CHP. Several people swerved to avoid the tire as it entered the highway, causing at least three crashes. Lanes were closed for a little more than one hour. No CHP officers were injured, but the patrol car was towed from the scene. At this time it's unclear if the driver of the Silverado knew that the tire was lost. 637

The flyovers will begin in Boston and proceed to New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. President Donald Trump plans to kick off Independence Day festivities with a showy display at Mount Rushmore the day before. The event will include fighter jets thundering over the 79-year-old stone monument in South Dakota's Black Hills and the first fireworks display there since 2009. 692
WASHINGTON (AP) — A man suspected of fatally shooting a supporter of a right-wing group in Portland, Oregon, last week was killed as investigators moved in to arrest him. That's according to a senior Justice Department official who spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday. The man, Michael Reinoehl, was killed as a federal task force attempted to apprehend him in Lacey, Washington. The official says Reinoehl was the prime suspect in the killing of 39-year-old Aaron “Jay” Danielson, who was shot in the chest Saturday night. 537
