ESCONDIDO, Calif (KGTV) -- A Palomar Water delivery man is being credited for saving the life of an elderly woman who fell and couldn't get up to call for help. On Monday, Marco Perea showed up to deliver water for his 88-year-old customer in Escondido. When he knocked on her door, he could hear her, but she wouldn't come to the door. After several attempts to get her to open the door, she was able to tell him that she'd fall on Sunday afternoon and hadn't been able to get up since then. Perea called 911 and paramedics and firefighters were able to make entry into the apartment. The woman was rushed to the hospital. Perea says the woman does have a caregiver, but only from Monday through Fridays. The woman's condition is still unknown. 755

Allen was also arrested after specialists conducted interviews with the children. He is being held on .5 million bail.The home was described by reporters as messy with scuffed walls and animal feces in the bathroom. The children slept on cots in the bedroom because they were close, Rogers said.Child protection officials made one prior visit to the home, Rogers said. Aleida Quartman, 23, said she was a co-worker at a heart device monitoring company.Quartman said Rogers’ messy house was just life with children, cats, a dog and a fish. (KGTV) — A man has died after firefighters found him inside a North County home where a fire had ignited Sunday afternoon.Escondido Police said the fire was reported in the 600 block of Waverly Place just before 11:30 a.m. When firefighters and police officers arrived, heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the home.Firefighters entered the home to battle the flames and found an adult man unresponsive inside. The man was taken to Palomar Medical Center where he later died, police said. His name has not been publicly released, pending notification of his family.The cause of the fire and the man's death is under investigation, police say. (KGTV) - Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who abandoned a vehicle after striking and killing a cyclist Saturday in Escondido.The cyclist was identified Monday as Kevin Lentz of Vista, a married father of a 1-year-old son, according to Escondido Police Lt. Scott Walters and friends of Lentz.The 36-year-old Lentz was cycling with a group on La Honda Road north of El Norte Parkway when he was hit head-on Saturday around noon, according to the Escondido Police Department.RELATED: Bicyclist killed in Escondido hit-and-run crash“The driver of the car was on the wrong side of the road, traveling at high speed on a blind curve when he hit Kevin head-on, killing him instantly,” wrote Devin Rickey on a GoFundMe page set up for Lentz’ family.Officers found the dark Toyota sedan abandoned a half-mile away, in the 600 block of Aster Street. The vehicle had significant damage to the windshield and roof.Lentz was an avid cyclist who raced competitively for the TASCO MTB mountain bike team before scaling back his riding to spend more time with family, friends said.
