SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Lifeguards Thursday rescued a 17-year-old girl who fell while hiking at Blacks Beach near Torrey Pines.Lifeguards say the teen was hiking with two other teenagers near Box Canyon about 1:30 p.m. when she fell at least 12 feet into a creek bed.A San Diego Fire-Rescue helicopter flew her to safety. Lifeguards helped the girl's companions walk down to the beach.The girl injured her leg and possibly her head. She was taken to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla.Lifeguards said three other people were rescued about the same time, including one person who started climbing down the cliff and became too scared to go up or down.Watch video from the scene in the player below:  711

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — In response to a rise in coronavirus cases among San Diego State students, the campus said Wednesday it will move all its classes online for the next month.The school says it has recorded 64 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in students since the start of fall classes on Aug. 24, but that doesn't mean there is an outbreak on campus. Many of the cases have come from students living off-campus. The school says 15 cases out of 7,997 on-campus students have been reported since the start of the semester.A little more than 100 students are currently quarantined out of an abundance of caution, said Andrea Dooley, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.One of the positive cases arrived in San Diego from out of state, according to County Medical Director Dr. Eric McDonald. McDonald said there is one off-campus gathering under investigation as to whether it meets the "outbreak" designation.RELATED: San Diego State fraternities ban social events this fall due to COVID-19In response to the growing number of students testing positive, SDSU moved all classes online for the next four weeks. The campus had been hosting about 200 classes in-person, many of which were lab classes that were determined to only be possible in person.Starting Sept. 3, all athletic events have also been paused for two weeks."We understand there may be some frustration with this decision ... the shift to the virtual space does not impact our students who are living on campus," said Luke Wood, Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity. For those isolated, a hygiene kit and food and meal delivery are provided by SDSU to those isolated students, Wood says.To address off-campus students testing positive, the school had banned fraternity events and instituted several policies to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Those policies include hiring security to patrol the campus after hours, document violations, and report to staff who handle disciplinary action. How women and men feel about dating locally may give us an idea about why the city ranked where it did. About 17% of women and 35% of men were satisfied with dating here.Far more San Diegans, about 58%, were satisfied with their social lives in town. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Many local restaurants are having a hard time finding outdoor patio heaters.The difficulty comes as restaurant owners in San Diego County prepare to close their indoor dining areas and take operations outside when new COVID-19 related restrictions take effect Saturday. The county is moving from the state's red to the purple tier following an increase in COVID-19 cases. The purple tier has the toughest COVID-19 related rules.The owners of Sisters Pizza in Hillcrest say they own four outdoor heaters and recently purchased two more from Amazon three weeks ago, one of the last left at the time. They are due to arrive any day."We paid about four times the price of our original space heater," owner Emily Green Lake said. "Right now, the heaters are really what it's all about in keeping people wanting to come back to your spot, or that second glass of wine or that dessert, and all of those extras are what's keeping businesses afloat right now."Premier Patio Heating in Oceanside, which rents out patio heaters, is out. Eddie Essey, vice president of operations, said they have a backlog of about 200 orders from restaurants and hotels. Anyone looking to get some from them now has a six-week wait."I'm saying six weeks," Essey said. "Honestly, that's a little optimistic. Realistically, I don't expect my supply chain to be where I want it to be until March or April."He's putting new orders on a waitlist but advising the customer to keep looking and trying other suppliers."Restaurants are struggling enough as it is that I don't want them to be missing out on income on their patios every night just waiting on me to get a shipment in," he said. "Everyone needs more patio heaters. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It’s been nearly one year since the deadly University City poolside shooting. Kion Gould was hosting his 48th birthday party at his apartment complex. Right before the shooting began, Gould said he saw a man lying on a lounge chair by himself, so he invited him to join the festivities.That’s when the man, later identified as Peter Selis, pulled out his gun.The only thing Gould could do is raise his arm.
