Liu said China is willing to work with the United States to enhance political mutual trust, promote economic and trade cooperation, deepen people-to-people exchanges so as to forge ahead bilateral ties.
"The goal is to stabilize the U.S.-China relations as the U.S. enters what will be two years or more of really turbulent domestic politics and a transition to a new administration," Paal said.
Meanwhile, the two sides agreed to speed up the negotiations of a third intergovernmental project in western China so as to launch its construction at an early date.
President Xi's visit will focus on boosting trust, and try to resolve U.S. worries that China and the United States contradict each other when dealing with issues such as international relations and the Asia-Pacific order, Wang said at the Lanting Forum held by the ministry.
Wang explained that such confidence not only results from mutual political trust and highly complementary economic relations, but also from the Belt and Road Initiative, which could act as a springboard for further cooperation.
