SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Saturday were asking for the public's help in locating an elderly woman who went missing from her son's Mira Mesa home.Martha Carrington, 83, was seen leaving her son's apartment in Casa Mira View, east of Westview Parkway and north of Mira Mesa Boulevard, between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, San Diego police said.Carrington suffers from schizophrenia, high blood pressure and the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, officers said.Her family doesn't believe she took any money with her, and she has no cell phone.Carrington was described as black and about 5-feet-8-inches tall. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Legion Major League Rugby team announced Tuesday that it released recently signed player Steffon Armitage in the wake of his conviction for sexually assaulting a woman in France.On Monday, a French court found Armitage guilty of groping a woman's breasts outside a bar last year in the town of Pau, where he was playing at the time of the assault. Armitage, 34, admitted he had also been drinking heavily that night.The court handed Armitage a suspended prison sentence and ordered him to compensate the victim with 5,000 euros, roughly ,500 in U.S. dollars.The Legion signed Armitage in July. Earlier in the decade, Armitage won three European Rugby Champions Cup titles with France's FC Toulannais and was named the European Rugby Cup's 2013-2014 player of the year.He had been expected to join the team at the beginning of pre-season training in December."Armitage's conduct does not reflect the values of the Legion and therefore, the team is going to go in a different direction for the 2020 season," the team said in a statement released Tuesday.The Legion launched with Major League Rugby in 2018 as one of the league's seven founding teams. Desmond, who succeeds Bill Horn as District 5 representative, made a motion for the leadership change based on the board rotation policy.The vote came after outgoing board Chairwoman Kristin Gaspar made a short speech on her time in the leadership role.She cited numerous board accomplishments, including the formation of working groups on the regional homeless problem and county road policies."This year has been incredible," Gaspar said.
