In a world of dating apps and websites, many people are still going the old-fashion route of speed dating. Some say it’s better than ever. "Speed dating is a way to meet people face to face in a 6-minute mini-date format," says Michael Clarke, who runs Pre-Dating Speed Dating. Clarke says people dating later in life are frustrated with the apps and the online quest to find love. "Prior to marriage, or when they were younger, they met people face to face,” Clarke says. “This is what their comfort zone is." Jodie Lopes is done swiping right and left on dating apps. "It's really about always putting your best foot forward all the time. I just want to be myself," she says. So, Lopes is participating in this speed dating event that’s for midlife singles only. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — School officials at Blue Valley School District in Kansas say they are having a problem with students vaping at school. The problem is so severe that school officials are calling it an "epidemic." "Students have been caught vaping in classes, in our hallways, in our bathrooms," said David Stubblefield, Blue Valley's executive director of school administration. "Kids have come to us and said they cannot sit through an entire class without vaping." According to the school district, vaping usage has increased among students in high school year after year. The district has also seen students vaping in middle school. Every day, principals are dealing with some problem involving vaping, Stubblefield said. "A lot of times there’s not a long-lasting smell to it and the vape can dissipate very quickly. They are so easily concealable because they look like normal, everyday devices, like a USB," Stubblefield said. To combat vaping, the school district is focusing on education. Lafayette Police in Louisiana are warning of a rash of burglaries known as "jugging."In a "jugging," the perpetrators watch a victim conduct a transaction at a financial institution, such as a bank, and follow them to their destination, then break into their vehicle and steal their money, a spokeswoman explains. The Lafayette Police Department Criminal Investigations Division in conjunction with other police agencies in the area are actively investigating multiple incidents of "jugging" that haven happened since September. Police are cautioning people to be careful when they conduct business at a bank that results in cash. Never leave that cash behind in your vehicle, and keep your eyes open as to who is around you.
