(KGTV) — An 8-year-old Guatemalan boy in the care of U.S. Customs and Border Protection died shortly after midnight Tuesday in New Mexico, officials say.The child was in CBP custody when an agent noticed him showing signs of illness Monday. The child and his father were transferred to Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in New Mexico, where staff diagnosed the boy with a common cold and fever.The boy was released with prescriptions for Ibuprofen and amoxicillin later that day, officials said.RELATED: The final hours of Jakelin Caal Maquin, the Guatemalan girl who died in Border Patrol custodyMonday night, officials said the boy began vomiting and was taken back to the medical center, where officials say he died shortly after midnight Tuesday. (KGTV) - Artificial intelligence may be able to perceive sexual orientation in faces better than the human brain, according to a Stanford University study.Dr. Michal Kosinski and Yilun Wang used deep neural networks to analyze more than 35,000 facial images.The programs correctly distinguished between homosexual and heterosexual men in 81% of cases, and in 74% of cases for women, researchers said.Accuracy improved when artificial intelligence analyzed five images, including grooming styles, according to the study.Researchers found lower accuracy rates for human judges asked to interpret sexuality through facial images: 51% for men and 54% for women.The researchers suggested the findings of the study posed a threat to the privacy and safety of gay men and women.GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign denounced the study, saying it made inaccurate assumptions.“Technology cannot identify someone’s sexual orientation. What their technology can recognize is a pattern that found a small subset of out white gay and lesbian people on dating sites who look similar. Those two findings should not be conflated,” said Jim Halloran, GLAAD’s Chief Digital Officer.“At a time where minority groups are being targeted, these reckless findings could serve as weapon to harm both heterosexuals who are inaccurately outed, as well as gay and lesbian people who are in situations where coming out is dangerous," Halloran said. 1437

(KGTV) -- A San Diego woman posted video online Tuesday after she spotted a bobcat roaming through her backyard. Radhika Vidya Chari lives in 4S Ranch, not far from the intersection of Camino San Bernardo and Fox Valley Drive.She says she was picking fruit from her lemon tree when she turned around and saw the animal. “I spotted him when I went to get a lemon from the tree and turn around. I ran to get my phone but he had disappeared,” Chari said. After the sighting, Chari says she questioned herself.“I googled to make sure if [sic] what I had seen.”Later that day, Chari says she was chopping vegetables when something caught her eye outside the kitchen window.“Sure enough, it was a bobcat and I took the video,” she continued. Chari says she reported the sighting to the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The department told her to keep her pets indoors and to make loud noises to scare the animal away if she encountered a bobcat again. “I have never seen anything like this before even in the wild.” 1017
