President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Mike Pence are set to receive the COVID-19 vaccine soon.According to two transition officials familiar with the matter, Biden will receive the vaccine publicly as early as next week. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss it publicly. The White House says Pence and his wife, Karen, will receive the vaccine publicly on Friday at 8 a.m. ETAccording to USA Today, Surgeon General Jerome Adams will also be vaccinated on Friday.Biden said on Tuesday that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease expert, advised him to get the vaccine “sooner than later.” Biden has said that he wants to keep front-line health care workers and vulnerable people as the top priority as the vaccine is rolled out throughout the country. But he’s also noted the importance of him getting the vaccine publicly to build confidence among Americans to get vaccinated.Biden said, “I don’t want to get ahead of the line, but I want to make sure we demonstrate to the American people that it is safe to take." 1096

Researchers say a whale found in the Arctic could be susceptible to COVID-19 since it's "particularly susceptible to infection."Researchers headed up by Martin Nweeia from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, will observe wildlife, mainly the narwhal whale is known for its vast nine-foot tusk."Scientists have a difficult enough time keeping up with the human spread of this virus, so we are eager to monitor an animal that is particularly susceptible to infection," Nweeia said in a press release.Nweeia has studied the narwhal for over 20 years, so he and his team know that animals can get the deadly virus."If this coronavirus were to gain a foothold in wildlife, there could be potential cascading impacts for ecosystems worldwide and the communities that rely on them," Nweeia added.Additionally, Nweeia and his team have already been observing the Ugandan lowland gorilla see its susceptibility because if it ever came into contact with one organism with COVID-19, it could wipe out the entire species, Nweeia said. 1072

Quora, the popular website where users can crowdsource answers to all kinds of topics, announced hackers gained personal information from up to 100 million of its users.Users account information such as email addresses and passwords may have been compromised. This comes on the heels of a massive data breach of Marriott’s systems, where hackers gained access to the data of 500 million users. It all begs the question: is there something we can do?The answer is yes, says security expert Fred Kneip with CyberGRX. He admits, however, that protecting your information can be frustrating.“Everyone hates changing their passwords,” Kneip says. “No one can keep track of them.”We all have to do it, he says. Kneip also says never use the same password for all your accounts.“If you use the same password over and over, a hacker if they compromise one of those companies—let’s say Twitter or Facebook most recently--but you use that to log in to your office or a bank, what they do is they take that password, that login and password set, and they apply it universally to see where else could that work,” Kneip explains.Suddenly, all your accounts risk being compromised. Kneip says a totally different password for each login is best, but even changing one character at the end will protect you from 90 percent of hackers. So, if you’re bad at keeping track of all your passwords, what can help? Kneip suggests encrypted password-keeping apps like Last Pass and One Password."Very straightforward; they’re free,” he says. “Then, you just have to have one master password that you open back up to.”The good news is, Kneip he believes we won’t need passwords for anything. Instead, our own biometric data will log us in to everything. 1739

President Donald Trump will welcome the United States' Winter Olympics teams to the White House Friday, but the list of potential absentees reads like a who's who list of America's most well-known athletes.Lindsey Vonn, Gus Kenworthy and Adam Rippon are among the stars set to be absent, some citing political differences with the president.Freestyle skier Kenworthy, a vocal Trump critic, tweeted "the resistance is real" in reference to the expected White House no-shows."All US Olympians and Paralympians are invited to visit the White House and meet the President after the Games," tweeted the American, whose kiss with boyfriend Matthew Wilkas in Pyeongchang, South Korea became worldwide news after it was broadcast live on national television."Today is this year's visit and USOC [US Olympic Committee] spokesperson says he's never seen so many athletes turn down their invites. The resistance is real."The US Olympic Committee has yet to respond to CNN's request for a comment on the numbers of predicted absentees. 1031
