A Cincinnati police officer outed an undercover colleague to the nightclub owner under investigation and concealed ,000 in off-duty income from the IRS, according to federal prosecutors.Quianna Campbell, 39, was arrested Friday. She stands charged with lying to federal agents and submitting false tax returns.According to the criminal complaint filed against Campbell in United States District Court, federal agents first became aware of her during a 2015 investigation into Cincinnati nightclubs’ potential involvement in organized drug trafficking and money-laundering. “During the course of this investigation, information was received that individuals associated with nightclubs had been or were currently being warned of police activities and were in essence being tipped off and possibly protected by members of the Cincinnati Police Department,” an IRS investigator wrote. Investigators later uncovered text messages in which a nightclub owner texted Campbell to ask about a specific person who had visited the club. “She’s an officer….” Campbell wrote back. She also discussed possible reasons police would be investigating the club, writing: “They work on random nights and go into different bars. If they come back again next weekend I would say yes.”In an interview with federal investigators, Campbell denied sending the messages and said she would never out an undercover officer. In 2018, according to the complaint, Campbell would admit she had also concealed a total of ,000 she had earned working off-duty details between 2015-17. She didn’t report the total to the IRS in her taxes, “because if she had reported the income she would not have received as large of tax refunds she received from the federal government,” the IRS investigator wrote.If convicted on both charges, Campbell could spent up to eight years in federal prison."The Cincinnati Police Department is aware of the indictment and arrest of Police Officer Quianna Campbell this afternoon," a department spokesperson wrote in a statement Friday afternoon. But the history of Thanksgiving, and the relationship between the two groups, is not that simple.“There was a lot of cultural misunderstanding, and there was some just flat out theft, and murder, and those things happened too,” said Tressa Brown with the Kentucky Heritage Council.Brown says what's taught in schools often romanticizes the first Thanksgiving and fails to acknowledge the wrongdoings against American Indians.“The stories that we perpetuate tend to make at least the dominant culture feel good, not so much for the other cultures. This is not a day of Thanksgiving for native people,” said Brown.She says Native Americans traditionally give thanks every day, rather than one set day each year. A part of Brown’s work includes traveling to schools to educate students and teachers about appropriate ways to teach and celebrate the holiday.“I think it's really important that kids be taught respect for those cultures, respect for what is sacred among other people. And not to denigrate it by dressing up and, you know, hitting your hand over your mouth to make noise and speaking in broken English,” said Brown. Brown says many don't realize that Native Americans are modernized, and they live just like everyone else.“The American Indian cultures, multiple, are vibrant, alive, thriving,” said Brown. Right here in Kentucky there is a rich Native American history. So Brown says this Thanksgiving take time to read up on the culture, and put a stop to hurtful stereotypes.“Respect is due, respect for that history, and those people is due,” said Brown.She says there are groups in America who are making an effort to acknowledge the history of Native Americans and trying to make amends.Brown tells LEX 18 the Indigenous Peoples Day movement is one example of that. 1949

A catering cart caused utter chaos at Chicago O'Hare International Airport Monday until an American Airlines employee saved the day.Dr. Kevin Klauer, an osteopathic physician, caught video of the cart's crazy circular ride on the tarmac while waiting for his flight to Tennessee."At first it was humorous to see this drive itself and not fall over, but then as it picked up speed it presented danger to people," Klauer told CNN.Video shows the cart spinning wildly in circles with food and trays scattered around it. Employees on the tarmac can be seen trying to approach the cart, but it's clear the cart is too out of control for them. It appears one employee was hit by the cart.As the cart continues to spin, it gets closer to the nose of an airplane until an employee in another vehicle crashed into the cart to avoid catastrophe."Everyone was actually really quietly watching this unfold," Klauer said. "When it ended, the whole gatehouse erupted in applause."American Airlines said in a statement that preliminary reports showed the cart's accelerator got stuck and caused the cart to lose control."No American Airlines team members were injured and the incident resulted in one 10-minute flight delay," American Airlines said in a statement. "We appreciate the quick action of our team member who stopped the vehicle."Klauer uploaded the video on Twitter before his flight took off.
