SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Fire-Rescue responded after a man reportedly got his hand stuck in an industrial tortilla press Thursday night.According to the department, the incident happened just after 5:30 at Tortillera La Perla on the 3100 block of National Avenue in San Diego.The man has been carried out of the factory, but a piece of the equipment is reportedly still stuck to the man's hand. Vacchi writes the property could be leased to the state or third-party on a temporary basis to use as a shelter for asylum-seeking migrants.The Alliance Healthcare Foundation has agreed to fund the operation of a facility, according to Vacchi, and the city has been in talks with the agency to secure shelter operations.The city is facing a Feb. 4 deadline to vacate the current shelter being used for migrant asylum seekers. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced Monday a larger investment into a program creating job opportunities for the homeless. Wheels of Change was launched in 2018 as a public-private partnership providing jobs and training for those living in the Alpha Project bridge shelter. “It’s innovative, it’s unique. It’s working it’s growing and it’s making a difference in people’s lives,” said Faulconer. The program is expanding from three to ten shifts per week, with participants earning per hour as they remove litter and debris through the Clean SD initiativee. An additional van is also being provided to transport the 20 workers. The City of San Diego doubled its investment to 0,000 this fiscal year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are asking the pubic for help identifying a group of suspects they say assaulted a male outside a Pacific Beach restaurant this month.Police said the victim got into an argument with a group of men outside Backyard Bar and Grill on Garnet Ave. on April 1, at about 1:30 a.m. During the argument, one of the suspects punched the victim in the face three times.After the victim walked across the street to get away from the group, the suspects followed him and repeatedly punched and kicked him while he was on the ground, police added.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with major head and facial injuries.
