The founder of the popular Southern California bakery passed away peacefully Friday with her husband by her side, the company said.According to KABC, Rosa launched Porto’s Bakery after escaping to the United States from Cuba. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Three out of four Americans favor requiring people to wear face coverings while outside their homes to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, including a solid majority of Republicans. That's according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Support for wearing masks is overwhelming among Democrats, while 58% of Republicans say they back such policies. As coronavirus cases rise, about half of Americans now say they're extremely or very worried about themselves or family members becoming infected. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Another attempted launch of a satellite-carrying rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County was scrubbed Thursday, and mission managers said the launch won't happen until at least Dec. 30.It was the fifth time United Launch Alliance scrubbed the planned launch of the reconnaissance satellite, again frustrating Southern California residents hoping to enjoy the aerial light spectacular that evening launches from Vandenberg create.The launch had been scheduled for 5:31 p.m., but ULA announced shortly after 10 a.m. that the launch was being postponed. LOS ANGELES (AP) — California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom calls mail-in voting safe and secure, but it's not perfect. More than 100,000 mail-in ballots were rejected by election officials in the state's March presidential primary. The six-figure tally highlights the big gap in the state's effort to ensure every vote is counted, as Democrats and Republicans argue over the integrity of vote-by-mail elections. State data obtained by The Associated Press shows 102,428 mail-in ballots were disqualified in 58 counties, mostly because they arrived too late. Also, nearly 28,000 were canceled because they either didn't have a signature, or the signature didn't match the one on record for the voter. 707
