SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Some Point Loma Nazarene University students have been told to shelter in place after a cluster of students tested positive for coronavirus.The university says it’s seen an increase of 12 cases. According to the school, 50 students were identified as close contacts.“A cluster of cases and potential exposures have been identified in the following dorm floors:Klassen Hall - 3rd North: three positive cases in isolation Hendricks Hall - 1st South: four positive cases in isolation Young Hall - 4th Floor: three positive cases in isolation Per university protocol, these positive cases are already in isolation in specific university housing outside of the potentially impacted floors,” the school said.The university says it is also monitoring two unrelated cases in Nease Hall.Read the full letter from the school below: 849

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police said a mother was drunk and driving her children when she crashed going the wrong way on a Rancho Bernardo street Monday morning.The crash happened about 4:30 a.m. on Camino del Norte, just west of Interstate 15. The woman drove her Chevy SUV east in the westbound lanes of the road, hitting a man in a Jeep Liberty.Officers told 10News the mother, who is in her 30s, had her 8-year-old child in the backseat with her 2-year-old child in a car seat. An infant was also in the car, unrestrained.RELATED: Check traffic conditionsThe infant was taken to Rady Children’s hospital with major injuries. The other children had minor injuries and were rushed to Palomar Hospital.The mother, who had minor injuries, was also taken to Palomar Hospital, along with the male driver of the Jeep. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Stephanie Eppig didn't sleep much last night.She was busy transforming her business model - under a very tight deadline.“I had to redo the entire schedule, try to line up a food partnership, change our hours,” she said.Eppig co-owns Eppig Brewing, with locations in vista and Point Loma.It was getting back up to speed just in time for July, its busiest month .Then, the devastating news Monday - the county - placing strict new limits on bars, breweries and wineries, to stop the increased spread of the coronavirus.The Vista location - back to Curbside pickup only. As for Point Loma, all guests coming will be required to order food, prepared by a food truck on site.“It's really a punch in the gut right now for us and our employees,” Eppig said. “It’s awful because this is our livelihood and this is our employees’ livelihood and we have zero control over our ability to run our business.”To make matters worse, Eppig already exhausted all the money from her federal Paycheck Protection Program loan - which got the brewery through the first shut down.There's no new agreement on a second round of stimulus.Attorney Kelly DuFord Williams, managing partner at Slate Law Group, says businesses can talk to their banks about lending opportunities - but that involves risk.“Either the government in California or if the Federal Government is going to make that decision, they need to fund another round of P.P.P., so that people can keep their jobs, and people's mental health and family life can have some sort of stability,” said DuFord Williams, who represents small businesses and restaurants.County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said Tuesday that he is hopeful federal officials will continue to provide economic support for impacted businesses and workers.The employees who went back to work and need unemployment once again will have to rectify for the benefits, the state Employment Development Department said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University released its plan Monday relating to holiday travel during the pandemic. It comes as students are getting ready to travel home for the holidays in a few weeks.The policies apply to students living on campus and those with in-person classes.Roughly 2,100 students live on-campus, and about 2,200 students are enrolled in an in-person class or participating in on-campus research, according to SDSU. There is a crossover between the groups.Students living on campus can choose to stay on campus over Thanksgiving. Meal plans and other student services will be available during the break.Students who choose to go home and see family have an option. The plan says they “may choose to remain at home for the rest of the fall semester and complete the last two weeks of the term remotely.”Those that travel and return to on-campus housing will be tested for COVID-19 immediately upon returning and then tested again, five to seven days later.Those taking in-person classes will be asked to test weekly upon returning; they are currently required to test every 14-days. Those taking in-person classes are being encouraged to avoid holiday travel.The notice to students goes on to say:"Each of us must continue to be very thoughtful and careful, even if the effects of COVID-19 seem invisible or have not touched some of us personally. Several religious and spiritual observations are before us in the months ahead, and it is disappointing that we will not be able to celebrate in person many of our traditions with our loved ones in ways we have in the past.
