Mary Kay Letourneau, a former teacher who was sentenced for an illicit relationship with a then sixth-grade student, has died at the age of 58, her attorney told NBC News.Her lawyer David Gehrke told news outlets Letourneau died Tuesday of cancer.Letourneau was charged with rape of a child after Letourneau became pregnant following a sexual relationship with student Vili Fualaau. The relationship began in 1996 when Letourneau was 34 and Fualaau was 12 or 13.When Fualaau was 18, he petitioned the court to lift a no-contact order between Letourneau and Fualaau. (CNS) -- Assemblywoman Autumn Burke, D-Marina del Rey, announced Monday she has tested positive for the coronavirus after apparently being exposed while the Legislature was reviewing the state budget.Her positive test led to a closure of the state Capitol in Sacramento so the Assembly offices could be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized."On July 3rd I received a call from the Assembly Human Resources Department that I had a 'mask to mask' exposure to COVID-19 on June 26th," Burke wrote on her Twitter page. "I was tested on the morning of July 4th and received my results in the evening that I had tested positive for the coronavirus."Currently my daughter and I have no symptoms, but will be remaining in quarantine until released by a doctor," she wrote. Michelle Ferre, 24, has a passion for running, and has a passion for teaching. Because of the love she has for both the fourth-grade teacher at Crofton Elementary in Maryland gets to live out her dream. Running the Boston Marathon on Monday is the opportunity of a lifetime."To me I think of the Super Bowl for runners," she said. "It is just the biggest honor to ever be able to run in that race.""I am already nervous," she added. "I'm already thinking about it. For me it's just an opportunity to represent my school, represent my students and get to share it with them."Ferre is part of team Hyland's, which is one of the sponsors of the Boston Marathon. She's one of 13 teachers that were picked to be on the team from a pool of 1,600 applicants. Her students surprised her with the news at school. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s medical safety commission has approved the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for the coronavirus.Assistant Health Secretary Hugo López-Gatell said Friday that Mexico is the fourth country to do so, behind Britain, Canada, and Bahrain.Mexico is set to receive 250,000 doses of the vaccine, enough for 125,000 people.López-Gatel has said that front-line health workers will get the shots first.
