KILLEEN, Texas – It’s been nearly two months since a Fort Hood soldier went missing and now the reward for information about the 20-year-old’s disappearance has been doubled to ,000.Private First Class Vanessa Guillen was last seen on April 22 between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of her Regimental Engineer Squadron Headquarters at the U.S. Army base in Killeen, Texas, according to a press release from the Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID).She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.The Army says Guillen’s car and room key, identification car, and wallet were later found in the armory room where she was working earlier in the day.Officials say Guillen was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and purple fitness-type pants. She’s described as being 5 feet 2 inches tall, about 126 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.Investigators say they have no credible information or report at this time that Guillen was sexually assaulted or that the case is in any way connected to the disappearance of Private Second Class Gregory Wedel-Morales, who was last seen on Aug. 19, 2019 while driving his car in Killeen. Both allegations have been circulated online.More than 150 people have been interviewed in the investigation and the Army says its working closely with multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, to help bring Guillen home.The Army and Fort Hood are still seeking the public’s help to solve the case. KILLEEN, TX — A suspect in a Fort Hood Criminal Investigation Division (CID) case died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound just as officers attempted to make contact with him early Wednesday morning.The Army has since confirmed the incident is linked to the disappearance of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen.Officers with the Killeen Police Department with the assistance of U.S. Marshals located the suspect at around 1:30 a.m. local time.Officers, along with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, located the suspect in the 4700 block of East Rancier Avenue — about 10 miles from Fort Hood. The Killeen Police Department says as officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, he pulled out a gun and shot it towards himself. The suspect later died.The incident came hours after Army CID agents announced they had found human remains while searching for Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, a soldier who went missing from the base on April 22. Jake, a coonhound, wandered a long way from his Arizona home -- more than 2,000 miles to be exact."We are just really baffled by it," said Renae Metz with A Darrah Bull Bully Rescue in Pennsylvania.A good Samaritan found the 7-year-old dog near a YMCA in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania about 100 miles east of Pittsburgh. When they scanned him for a microchip, they found one, and it came back registered to Phoenix."We thought maybe a truck driver possibly found Jake in the middle of the night and didn't know what to do with him and brought him home, but we don't know that that's a fact," Metz said.After finding the microchip, they made the phone call to Jake's owners."We have a 7-year-old coonhound here who is registered to you, are you missing your dog?" Metz asked the owners.It turns out they were, for the past year. Jake disappeared from their north Peoria home. Getting Jake back wouldn't be easy with a brand new baby, but Metz wasn't about to give up on getting the dog home."We have 20 different drivers, three overnights and a lot of stops for Jake," Metz laughed.Metz's sister is a transport coordinator for rescued animals. She used the power of Facebook to put out the call for help and arranged for his return.From Tennessee to Arkansas to Oklahoma to Texas and New Mexico, over the past three days, the volunteers took photos along the way.
