A body found in the water near Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, was identified Tuesday as a San Francisco 49ers fan who went missing during a Nov. 12 Monday Night football game, officials said. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner positively identified the body found Saturday by duck hunters as Ian Powers, 32, of Spokane, Washington. The body was found in low-tide water approximately one mile north of the Alviso Marina boat ramp. The boat ramp is almost three miles north of the stadium. The cause of death has been ruled as accidental drowning.Powers’ girlfriend told police he left his seat to use the bathroom and never returned.Surveillance video showed him leaving the stadium and walking out of the venue. 733

A Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Sheriff's Department employee was on the job when he overdosed in the parking lot of a Brooklyn IHOP in March.Paul Grivas has a badge with the sheriff's department where he works as a process server — someone who serves warrants and subpoenas. He was in his marked sheriff's department vehicle when someone noticed him slumped over at the wheel and dialed 911."It was definitely a different situation dealing with somebody that's in the same line of work we are," Officer Joe Bugaj with the Brooklyn Police Department said.Police officers found several subpoenas he was in the process of serving in the back seat. They also found the badge he was carrying. When Brooklyn first responders arrived at the scene, they immediately recognized he was overdosing and unresponsive.Grivas was given several doses of Naloxone, the antidote for heroin. Police say when he woke up he was extremely combative. "He was flailing his arms, kicking his legs, and one of the medics ended up getting kicked in the head," Bugaj said.He kneed a fireman so hard, the fireman suffered a mild concussion. Officials say he is doing okay.Bugaj said it's not uncommon for people to wake up from an overdose and be aggravated. He said it's something first responders have to keep in mind. "You never know what could happen, whether or not they're going to be upset, because we are basically taking that high away from them," Bugaj said. When asked if there is anything first responders can do to protect themselves, Bugaj said it's just part of the job."It's our job. It's what we signed up to do. We are here to preserve life," Bugaj said.Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland requested more information on Grivas' status with the sheriff's department, but did not hear back Wednesday. Grivas has been charged with felonious assault and obstructing official business.  1998

A father and mother in Las Vegas were arrested on Feb. 28 on charges including murder, child abuse/neglect, and animal cruelty. Police were called to the couple's apartment on Feb. 25 after getting reports about possible abuse or neglect. Medical workers told police dispatchers that they were transporting a 5-month-old child to the hospital and the baby appeared to be malnourished. The baby died after being taken to the hospital.Detectives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated the case, and three days later arrested 29-year-old Anthony Oceja and 24-year-old Loreana Martinez. Oceja and Martinez also had two other children who were taken into protective custody and are being evaluated by medical personnel for potential health concerns. There were also three dogs in the residence that appeared to be severely malnourished. They were turned over to Clark County Animal Control. The LVMPD Animal Cruelty Unit will conduct a follow-up investigation.Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the LVMPD Abuse and neglect section at 702-828-3364. A hearing is scheduled Friday morning in federal court in Manhattan related to the FBI search of the office, home and hotel room of President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen. No other information has been released yet about the hearing.Monday's raids included seeking records and communications related to efforts to suppress negative information ahead of the election, including communications that Trump had with Cohen regarding the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape that captured Trump making lewd remarks about women that surfaced a month before the election, CNN reported this week. 608

A Colorado family is reaching out to the public for help in treating their 15-year-old son’s rare and debilitating skin condition. For seven years, Jaiden Rogers has suffered from stiff skin syndrome, a disease that causes the skin to harden.“When they said it was stiff skin syndrome – I was like oh good it’s only that,” said Natalie, Jaiden’s mother. “But the doctor said, ‘oh no I don’t think you understand.’ They said his skin would turn to stone. Within a month, he was in a wheelchair. It spread so fast. Within just a few months, he was starting to get it everywhere.”The condition has caused his skin to gradually tighten and harden, spreading from his legs to his hips and then to his stomach and neck.It started as a growth behind his knee. Jaiden has since lost mobility. The syndrome is a painful one as the skin thickens, limiting joint mobility. The syndrome is sparked by a mutation change, and an exact treatment is unknown. With no cure for the disease, Rogers and his family are now banking on an experimental procedure to save his life.“Doctors in Ireland are working with doctors in London. This is very expensive,” Natalie said. “The whole treatment is .5 million, because they actually have to make something for him, because he is the only child. It’s our only hope, and we are running out of time.”Natalie says her son is “turning to stone,” leaving him unable to walk and sometimes giving him trouble breathing. He sees six doctors and takes chemotherapy drugs to slow the disease’s progression.Jaiden is being treated at Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. He may be the only one in the world being treated for what has been tabbed stiff skin syndrome. Altogether, there have only been a few dozen documented cases of the disease.Today, Jaiden remains confined to a wheelchair and takes chemotherapy to slow the progression. However, the condition has since spread to his stomach, chest, and neck, making it difficult for him to breathe. The family has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the experimental treatment. The fund’s .5 million goal includes 5,000 for a medical flight to Europe. 2142
