DUSHANBE, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon and Prime Minister Akil Akilov on Saturday pledged to develop all-round cooperation with China while meeting separately with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.     In his meeting with Rakhmon, Yang expressed his gratitude for Tajikistan's aid and support for China's earthquake relief. Pragmatic bilateral cooperation in all fields has yielded fruitful results, he added.     During Rakhmon's visit to China last year, China and Tajikistan signed a treaty on good-neighborly friendship and cooperation, which would guide the future development of bilateral ties, the Chinese foreign minister said.     China would like to work with Tajikistan to enhance cooperation and communication and contribute to maintaining regional stability and boosting common development, he said.     Rakhmon said Tajikistan highly evaluates relations with China and appreciates China's support to his country's economic and social development.     Tajikistan would continue to develop cooperation with China in all fields so as to elevate bilateral relations to a new high, he said. BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The parties involved in the Korean Peninsula nuclear talks held intense bilateral meetings here to pave the way for the discussions between chief negotiators, which are scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Kim Sook, chief negotiator of the Republic of Korea (ROK) delegation, met with his U.S. counterpart Christopher Hill and Chinese chief delegate Wu Dawei on Wednesday.    After the bilateral meetings, Kim told reporters that he felt neither "optimistic" nor "pessimistic" about the six-party talks, and each party needed to cool down and detail the relevant issues. BEIJING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin is urging to cultivate more farmers who not only plant but also know the ABCs of technology and management, since the country is seeking new ways to promote rural development.     "We should foster many more 'new-style' farmers who are educated and who know techniques and the basics of sales and management," said Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, adding that rural areas should use urban development as a catalyst. BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) will discuss the amendment or adoption of 18 laws, hear seven work reports and conduct reviews on the implementation of five laws in 2008.     The numbers were disclosed in a work agenda approved after a recent meeting of the chairman and vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over by top legislator Wu Bangguo.     The NPC Standing Committee will review draft amendments to 11 laws this year, including the Law on Protection of the Disabled, the Law on Insurance, the Patent Law, the Law on State Compensation, and the Electoral Law.     The draft amendment to the Law on Protection of the Disabled, which includes added details about stable financial support, better medical care and rehabilitation for the disabled, and favorable jobs and tax policies, is likely to be passed within this year, according to the work agenda. However, a date is not yet available. The Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) will discuss the amendment or adoption of 18 laws, hear seven work reports and conduct reviews on the implementation of five laws in 2008.    In 2008, the NPC Standing Committee will also review seven draft laws regulating management of an environment-friendly economy, administrative enforcement, management of state-owned property, food safety, social insurance, protection of intangible cultural heritage, and arbitration of land dispute in rural areas of the country.     The first five draft laws, which had already been heard last year by the 10th NPC Standing Committee, are also likely to be passed in 2008.     Moreover, the 11th NPC Standing Committee will hear another seven reports submitted by the State Council, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.     The work reports will cover areas ranging from disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction work, market prices, water pollution, to judicial justice.     In addition, the 11th NPC Standing Committee will also conduct respective inspections of the implementation of the Law on the Protection of Minors, the Law on Employment Contracts, the Law of Farmers' Specialized Cooperatives, the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment, and the Compulsory Education Law.     The focus of this year's NPC Standing Committee's work is to "improve the socialistic legal system with Chinese characteristics", the work agenda said.

SKOPJE, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang met here on Monday with Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski with both sides vowing to boost cooperation between the two countries.     "China attaches great importance to the bilateral relations with Macedonia, and regards Macedonia as a trust-worthy partner in the west Balkans," Zhang said.     Zhang pointed out that the bilateral relations between the two countries have made positive progress during the past 15 years, and that economic cooperation and exchanges in the fields such as culture, education and sports have witnessed new development.     Zhang said China is ready to broaden the areas of cooperation between China and Macedonia on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit, and lift the bilateral relations to a new level.     He suggested the two countries should find new areas of cooperation, and push the companies of the two countries to develop cooperation in different forms and through various conduits.     Zhang expressed thanks and gratitude to Macedonia for its stance on one-China policy and its support for China's cause of peaceful unification with Taiwan.     Crvenkovski said Macedonian highly values its relations with China, saying that Macedonia will unswervingly stick to its one-China policy.     "We are ready to work with China to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in the areas of politics, trade and economy, and international affairs, pushing the bilateral relations forward," Crvenkovski said.     Crvenkovski congratulated China on staging a wonderful Olympic Games in Beijing, and thanked China for its long-time help and support for Macedonia.
