(KGTV) -- Two people were injured after the driver of a Prius slid down the side of a hill in San Marcos Sunday morning.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened around 9:20 a.m. at San Elijo Road and Schoolhouse Way.The department says an 84-year-old driver was traveling too fast when he tried to make a turn, hit a curb, and slid down the hill.Both the driver and a 77-year-old female passenger were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, the department says. 554

(KGTV) — Palomar Community College President Dr. Joi Lin Blake will resign this summer, after facing criticism over a recent budget report warning of the district's fiscal instability.This week the district's Governing Board approved the agreement for Blake to resign, which will take effect June 30. Blake was placed on leave following the Fiscal Crisis Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) report.Palomar Vice President Jack Kahn will serve at Acting Superintendent and President. (KGTV) - Surveillance pictures released Monday show two of the four people suspected of identity theft in East County.The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said a woman either lost her wallet or had it stolen at the Vons grocery store at 9643 Mission Gorge Road in Santee on January 20.The victim’s credit cards were used immediately by four suspects at several nearby stores including Buffalo Wild Wings, Home Depot, Walmart, Skechers, and Ross.Two of the suspects were identified and arrested but the other two are still wanted.One suspect is a white man in his 40’s, 6-feet tall with gray hair. He was last seen wearing a yellow and black plaid jacket and jeans.The other suspect is a white woman, about 40 years old, 5’6” and 230 pounds. She has burgundy or purple hair and wears glasses. (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible threat made against West Hills High School late Monday.In a letter to parents, West Hills Principal Robin Ballarin said staff was made aware of the threat Monday concerning a student remark that referenced a possible act of violence.The 15-year-old student has been identified, school officials say.No weapon or written threats were found in connection with the student, deputies said.The remark was reportedly made during class at 10:30 a.m., according to deputies, who called the comment "generic." SAN MARCOS (CNS) - The majority of classes at Palomar College will remain online during the spring 2021 semester to remain in compliance with public health orders, college officials announced Friday."The Palomar College community continues to do its part to slow the spread of this virus," said Interim Superintendent/President Jack Kahn. "We will proceed in an abundance of caution, mindful of the fact that some courses need physical classroom time more than others and serve essential industries in our region."The announcement follows a similar one Thursday from the San Diego Community College District, which stated San Diego City, Mesa and Miramar colleges will remain online throughout the 2020-21 school year, along with San Diego Continuing Education.Palomar College says it will expand onsite instruction for specific programs, while maintaining strict adherence to all COVID-19 prevention guidelines.The academic programs offering both online and on-site instruction in spring 2021 include police academy, fire academy, paramedics, nursing, dental assisting, cabinet and furniture technology, welding, diesel mechanics technology, auto body, auto tech, air conditioning, water technology and wastewater technology, drone technology and Biology 212.The college is also awaiting guidance from the California Community College Athletics Association on how to offer competitive athletics and training programs.Kahn emphasized that Palomar College reserves the right to revise the spring 2021 schedule, depending on the status of the health crisis in the region. 1577
