SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 26-year-old was hospitalized late Saturday night after being struck by an SUV while riding his motorcycle.Police say the man was crossing an intersection at 5th Avenue and Ash Street around 9:41 when 82-year-old Herbert Green ran a red light and hit the 26-year-old.The rider flew off the bike when police say he hit a parked car with his head. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers were able to catch up to and arrest Green several blocks away from the scene of the crash. 545
SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNS) -- Opening statements will likely begin Thursday morning in the retrial of Kellen Winslow II, who is charged with raping a woman in Encinitas and an unconscious teen in Scripps Ranch in 2003. Winslow was previously convicted of raping a homeless woman and exposing himself to two others. After a week of deliberations, the Vista jury found Winslow guilty of raping a woman in Encinitas and exposing himself to two others, but deadlocked on eight other charges. Those charges included rape and kidnapping in connection with two other women. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 105-year-old World War II veteran is set to receive his college diploma 83 years after graduating.Bill Vogt, who was one of the first students to set foot on San Diego State University's campus after it opened in 1931, will receive his diploma in commerce retro-dated to Feb. 1, 1935, on Thursday.Vogt graduated from SDSU mid-year in 1935 but never got a printed diploma. He is the last remaining SDSU student to have attended classes at the university's old campus in University Heights, according to the school.The special presentation comes after Vogt elected to become a lifetime member of SDSU Alumni in May, a special alumni program offered by the university. He's also believed to be the oldest person ever to become an Alumni lifetime member, the school added.The WWII veteran served in the US Navy, and also served in the Korea and Vietnam wars. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A family from Chula Vista is desperately looking for their 9-year-old loved one. Erik Ochoa was swept away by the current in Rosarito on Easter Sunday. Ochoa lives in Tijuana with his father. His sisters, Zusel and Hilary live in Chula Vista. The boy was with two other children walking along the beach in Rosarito when they were swept away. One boy made it out of the current and ran to get an adult nearby. The third child washed ashore, lifeless, 25-minutes after going missing. Erik hasn't been seen since. The sisters have been looking for their brother since they heard about what happened. They've been going from Imperial Beach all the way down to Border Field State Park.The Mexican Navy is actively searching on the Mexican side. The U.S. Coast Guard broadcast a message to boaters telling them to be on the lookout. Erik was last seen wearing green shorts and a striped shirt.
