CNN has learned an arrest warrant was issued over the summer for R. Kelly's former manager, James Mason, after Mason was accused of threatening to kill the father of Joycelyn Savage, one of the women featured in "Surviving R. Kelly."The incident, which allegedly took place in May 2018, was reported by Timothy Savage to Henry County police. Savage claims his daughter is being held against her will by R. Kelly and Mason threatened him for speaking out about it.Reached by phone Wednesday morning, Mason told CNN he had "no comment" and referred additional questions to his attorney.In an incident report obtained by CNN, Timothy Savage stated that Mason said, "I'm gonna do harm to you and your family, when I see you I'm gonna get you, I'm going to f***ing kill you."The case was presented to a Magistrate Judge who issued a warrant in July, citing "terroristic threats and acts." The warrant is assigned to the sheriff's office.Joycelyn Savage's family has claimed she is having a sexual relationship with Kelly, and that she is being manipulated by him into cutting off contact with the outside world.Her father says they haven't heard from her in about two years.She responded to this claim in a video released in 2017, in which she denied she's being held and that she had been brainwashed by the Grammy-award winning singer."I just want everybody to know -- my parents and everybody in the world -- that I'm totally fine. Chloe Na says she studied every day for several hours ahead of the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee.“Trying to be well-rounded and make it through the dictionary,” she says of her strategy during the competition. One word the 12-year-old girl from Valencia, California is already familiar with: perseverance.When Na was in D.C., she received some heartbreaking news. Her grandfather, one of her biggest fans, died from a heart condition.“I think he would be proud,” she says. “He was always there to support us for every spelling bee.”Na’s mother, Denise, says the family decided to stay and compete, because they know that’s what Na’s grandfather would have wanted.“He was very excited. He would text me, call me, when we were taking about the Spelling Bee, so I’m happy he got the good news,” Denise Na says.While Na did not end up making it to the finals, she’s proud of what she accomplished and happy the pressure is off. Days before a gun rights protest that is set to take place this weekend at the Virginia Capitol, Gov. Ralph Northam declared an emergency, which will ban protesters from entering the grounds around the Capitol with firearms. The emergency, which was declared by executive order, will span Friday, January 17 at 5:00 p.m. until Tuesday, January 21 at 5:00 p.m.“Law enforcement intelligence analysts have identified credible threats of violence surrounding the event, along with white nationalist rhetoric and plans by out-of-state militia groups to attend,” said a statement from Northam’s office. Northam tweeted that the order was to protect citizens and lawmakers. “We support citizens’ rights to peacefully protest and express their views to their elected officials. But we must also keep the public, as well as those who work around Capitol Square, safe,” the governor tweeted.Northam, a Democrat elected in 2018, now enjoys partisan support from the Virginia House and Senate. Following the 2019 election, Democrats have the majority in the Virginia House of Delegates for the first time in more than two decades. With Democrats holding the bicameral legislature, there has been a push to enact gun control. While a bill to ban assault weapons was dropped earlier this week, other bills are still being considered. One is limiting the purchases of firearms to one a month. Earlier this month, Northam signed legislation to prohibit firearms inside of the Capitol building and adjacent legislative office building. "Our prime objectives, which sounds very Star Trek-y, is to make sure that we're ready with the right tools for spacesuit design to go wherever we might need to go" — whether that's the moon, Mars or somewhere else.The prototypes, called the Z-series, are still in early testing phases.
