LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville Metro Police Department has released the incident report from the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor in her apartment, but it’s almost entirely blank.The release of the report comes nearly three months after the 26-year-old ER technician was shot and killed by officers in her South End home in the early morning hours of March 13.The four-page report, obtained by the Courier Journal and New York Magazine, lists some basic details like the time, date, case number, incident location and the victim’s name and age.The report also lists Taylor’s injuries as “none,” even though she was shot eight times before dying in the hall of her apartment.The report lists three “offenders” – officers Jon Mattingly, 47, Myles Cosgrove, 42, and Brett Hankison, 44.Under charges, the document describes the incident as a “death investigation – LMPD involved” and says there was no forced entry, even though officers used a battering ram to knock down Taylor’s door.Lastly, for the “public narrative” section of the report, the department only wrote “PIU investigation."In a statement obtained by the Courier Journal, the police department acknowledged errors in the report and said they were the result of a reporting program creating a paper file.The city’s mayor, Greg Fischer, has called the report “unacceptable.”“Full stop. But talk of banning the devices nationwide appears to have stalled.Beginning in 2018, penalties for the possession or use of a bump stock or trigger crank in Massachusetts will range from probation to life in prison, Representative David Linsky, a Democrat who proposed the amendment, told CNN.The new law defines a bump stock as "any device for a weapon that increases the rate of fire achievable with such weapon by using energy from the recoil of the weapon to generate a reciprocating action that facilitates repeated activation of the trigger."In other words, the devices allow semi-automatic rifles to fire more rapidly, similar to automatic weapons. Microsoft took legal steps to dismantle a system that has allowed criminal hackers to infect more than a million computing devices since 2016, in order to protect the 2020 election.The technology company obtained a court order from a federal judge in Virginia that gives Microsoft control of the Trickbot botnet.Microsoft, along with partners around the world, were able to make it so those operating Trickbot cannot initiate new infections or activate ransomware already in computer systems.Trickbot botnet is a global network believed to be run by Russian-speaking criminals, and is “one of the world’s most infamous botnets and prolific distributors of ransomware” according to a blog post by Tom Burt, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft.Burt says ransomware is “one of the largest threats to the upcoming elections,” and can be used to “infect a computer system used to maintain voter rolls or report on election-night results, seizing those systems at a prescribed hour optimised to sow chaos and distrust.”The move by Microsoft represents a “new legal approach” the company says they are using for the first time.In addition to protecting election systems, Microsoft says dismantling Trickbot will also protect financial services institutions, government agencies, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other businesses subject to malware infections. 1382
