The Republican governor signed the bill Tuesday afternoon, just two days after legislators passed it. Mississippi will not have a flag for a while. (KGTV) -- A suspect was taken into custody Monday night after an hours-long standoff in National City following a shooting. According to deputies, the shooting happened on the 2300 block of Prospect Street near Lincoln Acres School. Authorities confirmed that one person was shot but were unable to give further details. Deputies say the suspect barricaded himself inside a home after the shooting. A portion of Prospect Street was closed off for hours due to the incident.  529

MILWAUKEE -- A suspicious package investigation in downtown Milwaukee took an unexpected turn Monday when a bystander suddenly walked up to the item in question and began rummaging through it, prompting investigators to tackle him. The backpack was reported shortly before 7 a.m., prompting a response by Milwaukee Police and the bomb squad.Video shows the man crossing the police tape, walking up to the backpack and dumping out the contents. It’s not clear if the man had any connection to the investigation. Police have not released any other information at this time. 614
