Parents know that a road trip with a baby can be a nightmare. Even stopping for a break hardly counts as "rest." And when it comes to twins? Forget about it.One Reddit user, posting under the handle "neroiscariot" found himself in that exact situation. He says he was returning from his brother's funeral with his wife and twin babies when the family stopped at an IHOP. In an already stressful situation, the poster says he was struggling to keep his children calm.Though the two fussy children seemed to be bothering diners around the restaurant, one customer went of their way to brighten the family's day."A stranger picked up our tab at IHOP while my wife and I were struggling to keep our twin babies calm. We cried," neroiscariot posted. He included a photo of a receipt that included the message "Just breathe you're doing great :)."  875

Police in Bismarck, North Dakota, want to put AR-15 rifles in some schools so school resource officers can respond more quickly in the event of an active shooter.Police asked for almost ,000 in their 2019 budget request to buy the rifles, heavy body armor and bleeding control kits for the city's nine high schools and middle schools, Bismarck Police Chief Dave Draovitch told CNN.The money will also be used to buy a safe at each school to keep the equipment away from students, teachers and staff."The SROs (school resource officers) will be the only ones who have access to this equipment," he said. The cost would be split with the school system."Hopefully we never find ourselves in a situation of an active shooter. But if we do, we really want to make sure that our SRO's are equipped with the tools that they need to do their job effectively," Bismarck Public Schools safety coordinator Becky LaBella told CNN affiliate KFYR.Draovitch said Bismarck school resource officers are police officers and are trained to respond immediately to stop an active shooting."Whatever they have to do to stop that threat, that's what we expect our officers to do," Draovitch said. They keep AR-15s and the other emergency equipment in their vehicles, but that's not as useful if there's an active shooting situation inside the building."If something happens they're not going to have time to go running out to their cars," Draovitch said. "All we're trying to do is make it more accessible so they can get to it more quickly."AR-15s are lightweight, rapid-fire rifles. Besides being used by law enforcement, the guns have been used in some of the most notorious and deadly mass killings in recent history.Draovitch says having the bleeding control kit -- which has tourniquets, gauze and other supplies for treating gunshot wounds -- could be the most important part of the plan."If, God forbid, something does happen, getting aid quickly is going to be key," he said.He said city officials began discussing the plan after the February 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, that killed 17 students and faculty."After that happened, we really got to talking with our schools about what can we do better, what can we do differently," Draovitch said. The city will vote on the budget next month and Draovitch expects it will pass. If the money is approved, they will get the equipment in January."We're just trying to plan for the worst and we're always hoping that we never have to use this stuff," Draovitch said. 2569

Police in Germantown, Wisconsin are looking for a bathroom creeper who took pictures of a woman while she was using the restroom. It happened Monday afternoon at the McDonald’s on Mequon Road. “While she was in the stall she saw two arms holding some sort of recording device,” Police Chief Peter Hoell said. That’s when the startled woman ran out of the bathroom after the suspect. The restaurant’s manager saw the commotion and ran out of the building behind the woman, they both saw the suspect get into an old RV and take off. “The vehicle should stick out,” said Hoell. Surveillance cameras captured images of the man and his getaway vehicle. Because the man was driving an RV, the chief said he believes he may be from out of town. Hoell hopes that social media will help in the investigation. “Depending on the interest, that post might go to multiple states, we may have an opportunity to identify this person even if he is not from Wisconsin,” said Hoell. 1002

PALM CITY, Fla. -- A new dog training facility is almost complete in Florida. Its goal is to rescue pups and turn them into service dogs for veterans who need them now even more than ever during a pandemic.Veteran Suhir Shrestha was born in Nepal and moved to the U.S. He was so thankful for his life here that he decided to enlist in the military as a way to give back, at 39 years old."I deployed to Afghanistan in 2013 and there, obviously, it was a war zone," he said.Shrestha said when he returned, he suffered from PTSD, depression and anxiety."I had a lot of suicidal thoughts and a lot of negative thoughts, nightmares, flashbacks, what have you," he said. "It was very difficult to lead a life."It's a life that has recently take on new meaning with Indie by his side."It has been a tremendous life-changer for me," he said. "Before, I used to be not able to go outside, be nervous of a crowd and just have negative thoughts in me."Indie was adopted from the shelter-to-service dog program through Furry Friends Adoption Clinic and Ranch."Gives me extra confidence to go outside because I have him," Shrestha said."These dogs are coming from high-kill shelters in many cases," said Pat Deshong, the president of Furry Friends Adoption Clinic and Ranch. "We don't necessarily take them to be service dogs, but we take them because they are high energy."The group is building a new training center in Palm City and is weeks away from completion. It's all in an effort to bring veterans from across the country to Florida to adopt."These veterans are so deserving of these dogs," Deshong said. "We don't automatically pick which dog is right for the veteran. We let the veteran select and we kind of monitor and see which two connect."This story was originally published by Tory Dunnan at WPTV. 1808

Police in Delray Beach, Florida are looking for the person accused of attacking a 60-year-old man with a skateboard Sunday afternoon. The victim told police that a younger man used a skateboard as a weapon after the two exchanged words just before noon in the Dotterel Road neighborhood. The victim said he and his wife were walking around their property when they encountered a young man in a dark t-shirt, baggy shorts and dark skater sneakers. The victim's wife told police that she took a picture of the suspect because they have had problems with young men on skateboards damaging cars in the parking lot.The man with the skateboard told the victim to move, but he refused.Police said the suspect swung the skateboard, missing the victim, who fell to the ground. As he got up, he told officers that he unsuccessfully tried to push the attacker away. However the suspect, holding the skateboard in both hands, hit the man on the left side of his head, leaving him with a cut on his left ear and swelling on his head. Delray Beach Fire Rescue treated the victim at the scene of the attack. 1163
