EL CAJON (KGTV) -- Authorities are working to clear a fuel spill Sunday afternoon after a small plane crashed landed onto a quiet El Cajon neighborhoodThe plane crashed sometime around 2 p.m. at 2nd Street and El Rey in El Cajon.The pilot was en route to Gillispie Field, a little more than a mile from where it crashed.Authorities say two people were on board the aircraft but suffered no injuries.There was a small fuel leak following the crash and the plane knocked down some wires when it crash landed. DOLLAR POINT, Calif. (KGTV) - A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the Lake Tahoe-area town of Truckee, California Thursday.The quake happened at 3:08 p.m. and was five kilometers north-northwest of Dollar Point in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range.People in Sacramento also felt the shaking about 120 miles away, according to the U.S. Geological Survey map.There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries. 419
EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- New video from a nearby business shows the moments before a driver plunged into a sinkhole in El Cajon.The images seeming to tell a different story than was released by El Cajon police earlier in the week.The incident happened late Monday night on Vernon Way and Johnson Avenue. A white car became almost completely submerged in a deep sinkhole after a water main break earlier in the evening. RELATED: Sinkhole forms at El Cajon intersection, swallows car At the time police said the driver, who wasn't injured, ended up there after going around a barricade.Ken Wingert's office has surveillance cameras pointed right at the street where it happened, so out of curiosity, he took a look and says the video paints a different story than the one he first heard. "I saw the video...no that's not true," Wingert told 10News. "The police officer actually went to her window, talked to her and the car pulled a u-turn and went into the sinkhole."After the car goes down, Wingert says the video gets even more interesting. The officers can be seen walking over, but it's how they did it that has him confused. "Why were the police not reacting so fast once the car went into the pothole? All of a sudden when the car started sinking more everybody started running towards it," he said. "To me that was a little slow on that part."On Thursday 10News made multiple attempts to talk to El Cajon police about the video. We were told that there was no one available to comment. 1537
During his visit to San Diego, President Trump took a few moments to heap praise on San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer over his approach to homelessness."In the case of San Diego the mayor's doing the right thing, he's doing a good job," Trump said.The president went on to take aim at Los Angeles and San Francisco."It's a total disaster, they're going to ruin those cities," Trump said. Those comparisons, then echoed Thursday by Housing Secretary Ben Carson in an unpublicized visit to a temporary bridge shelter in San Diego."Night and day, difference," Carson said. "I don't want to, you know, have everybody come to San Diego becuase you're doing such a good job, but that's the danger."Platitudes aside, the city of San Diego still has a population of about five thousand homeless people - around half sleeping on the streets. A spokeswoman for the mayor said Faulconer has taken a broad approach through temporary bridge shelters, safe parking lots, storage and outreach, with a goal of permanent supportive housing. But homeless advocate Michael McConnell dismissed Trump's statement as partisan politics. Faulconer and Trump are both Republicans, while leadership in Los Angeles and San Francisco is largely democratic. "This is all political," McConnell said, adding the city should focus more on permanent solutions. "There's nothing wrong with giving people access to a shelter, but once they're in that shelter that can't be their home. We have to invest in getting them out of the shelter."But Bob McElroy, who heads Alpha Project and its temporary bridge shelter, said Faulconer deserves praise above other politicians."He's doing better than anybody I know," McElroy said.In a statement, Faulconer said homelessness should not become political."We have an action-oriented approach on homelessness in San Diego, and over 40 agencies and cities led by both Republicans and Democrats have come to see our new programs in action," the mayor said. (KGTV) - The driver accused of killing a pregnant woman on Mother's Day in Ramona is at the East County Courthouse Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.Prosecutors say Andrew Milonis, 44, was driving under the influence and struck and killed 29-year-old Jessica Foderingham and her unborn daughter in May.Milonis is accused of leaving the scene on San Vicente Rd. and hiring a Lyft driver to take him to a bar.Milonis is facing eight felony charges, including murder. 504
