FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl after they say she was behind the wheel of a car that reversed into a patrol car twice -- once with the officer inside -- and led them on a pursuit before crashing into a fence. The girl is facing several felony charges.Police say they were called to a local RaceTrac on Saturday to investigate a suspicious car. When they got on scene, they found a 14-year-old girl behind the wheel. They say she then reversed into the patrol car twice, the second time while the officer was inside, then took off.She led police on a nearly mile-long pursuit until she crashed her car into a fence. The panel of the metal fence was destroyed. Shyvonne Jackson said he was leaving work when he saw the commotion. "Someone could have got hurt. Some kids could have gotten hurt. Somebody could have got their life taken away," he said. The girl is now facing multiple charges, including 10 counts of hit-and-run with property damage and six counts of aggravated battery on an officer.  1090

Fewer women are scheduling mammograms due to COVID-19 fears, according to a local doctor.At TriStar Summit Medical Center, Dr. Rhonda Halcomb with Centennial Women’s group, said they’re being careful.“From the time that you check in here, patients are pre-screened and screened, we provide masks and hand sanitizer here in the building, and here in the office," said Halcomb.Even though we’re in the middle of a pandemic, she said routine mammograms are still important.“Breast cancer, in general, is the number one cancer in women.”She’s sad that fewer people are showing up, or postponing their routine checks.“It breaks my heart in general that people are scared to take care of themselves,” Dr. Halcomb said.First hand, she has seen how mammograms can save lives.“Breast cancer to me has affected several of my family members. Florida prosecutors have charged a Miami police officer they say tried to kick a suspect who was being handcuffed on the ground, in an encounter captured on video.Mario Figueroa, a two-year veteran of the force, was charged Tuesday with assault, a second-degree misdemeanor, after the cell phone video of the incident surfaced last week."Officer Mario Figueroa can have no excuse for the alleged actions seen on the initial videotape," State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said in a new release. For those wondering if “Jeopardy!” would go on after Alex Trebek’s death, Jeopardy producers confirmed on Monday that the show must go on.Jeopardy executive producer Mike Richards released a statement on Monday saying the show would resume production on November 30. The show will resume with Ken Jennings, a former contestant who was deemed the “Greatest of All Time” in January, as the first to guest host following Trebek’s death. Other guest hosts will be announced in the future.Jennings joined the program at the start of the current season as a consulting producer. Before winning the “Greatest of All Time” series in January, Jennings set a still-standing record of 74 wins in a row in 2004.“Alex believed in the importance of Jeopardy! and always said that he wanted the show to go on after him,” said Richards. “We will honor Alex’s legacy by continuing to produce the game he loved with smart contestants and challenging clues.
