MILWAUKEE -- Six cars were damaged Friday when light poles fell across traffic lanes on I-43 near Milwaukee.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a red pick-up truck heading northbound hit both of the light poles in the median just before 3:30 p.m. A witness at a law firm off Hampton Avenue said she saw the truck drive up onto the median and hit one pole, before continuing on to hit a second. "Unfortunately one of them kind of struck the side of the car, put a hole in the door, took a mirror out," said Jim Lovering, whose daughter called him after swerving to avoid the two poles.Lovering's 7-month-old grandson was also in the car. "Just missed the windshield, which was a blessing," said Lovering. The camera caught deputies taking away the driver of the red truck in handcuffs. Authorities have not yet released any information confirming an arrest, or possible charges. The accident caused backups for miles during rush hour, as crews worked to remove the poles from the roadway. No one in any of the cars was injured. "It was just nice that she had the space to maneuver and without hitting anybody else or causing any further damage," said Lovering. "It could be potentially you know a serious accident. Thank God it didn't happen."  1341

More than 30 states are reporting increases in opioid related overdoses and those from other drugs during the pandemic, particularly involving fentanyl, according to the American Medical Association.The government has taken steps to curb deaths during the pandemic by allowing for more flexibility in prescribing medications for opioid use disorder and lifting other restrictions on pain medications.Meanwhile, the National Safety Council is calling on businesses to get ready for an increase in substance misuse in the workplace.“Employers not only have a responsibility, they have a call to arms here to make sure as they bring employees back to work, that they are directly addressing their mental health and providing them the resources that they need to be able to navigate,” said Lorraine Martin, President of the National Safety Council. “It’s just as important as the PPE and sanitization for hygiene that we will all need to have when we come back to work.”Martin recognizes mental health and substance misuse are often interconnected.Now, with the additional stress and unrest related to George Floyd’s death on top of COVID-19, people may be self-medicating even more.The National Safety Council put out resources and tools to help businesses help struggling employees, but they believe the most important thing leaders can do is talk about it.“The most mature companies are addressing this head on,” said Martin. “We know that substance misuse is a disease, not a decision, and if you can come at it with that attitude and make sure you create that safe space for your employees, that can make all the difference.”Not addressing substance misuse is a serious threat to worker safety and costs a lot of money in terms of productivity, absenteeism and workers compensation claims.On the other hand, employees that work through these issues with their employer often come out on the other side more loyal and productive. 1937

More than 1,000 aftershocks of magnitude 1.5 or greater have shaken Alaska since Friday's big quake knocked out power, ripped open roads and splintered buildings in Anchorage, US Geological Survey geophysicist Randy Baldwin said Sunday.The majority were of a magnitude of 2.5 or weaker, meaning they weren't likely felt. But more than 350 of the aftershocks were higher than 2.5, according to USGS data.Still, local officials said life was returning to normal after Friday's magnitude 7 earthquake, even as 4 to 8 inches of snow was expected Sunday."This is the second-largest earthquake we've had since 1964, which was a very significant earthquake," Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz told reporters Saturday, referring to the 9.2 quake that was the most powerful recorded in US history. "In terms of a disaster, I think it says more about who we are than what we suffered," Berkowitz said. Not Richard Kraft."I'm not satisfied with a souvenir book or a little pennant: I had to actually own pieces of the park," says Kraft, who admits "I'm a bit obsessive."He grew up in Bakersfield, California, a few hours' drive north of Disneyland, and his schoolteacher parents would save money for annual trips to the theme park. His older brother, David, had Crohn's disease, so they could go only when he was healthy.When David died, 25 years ago, Kraft found himself drawn back to Disneyland, to the sights and smells and tastes that brought back memories."These were the same sidewalks I walked as a child with my brother," Kraft recalls."Then he heard about an auction of Disneyland travel posters. He bid on an Autopia poster, won it -- and was hooked.His quarter-century of collecting is currently on display as "That's From Disneyland!", a 20,000-square-foot pop-up exhibit filling an old sporting goods store in Sherman Oaks, California. It includes everything from attraction vehicles and props to park signage and concept drawings -- more than 750 items in all.Guests are greeted by a scale model of Main Street, surrounded by concept artwork, the "travel posters" that lined the entrance tunnels, and even a Disneyland mailbox. Further treasures are organized by "land" -- Adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland.The vehicles are a big draw: at the exhibit's opening, guests lined up to take selfies in an original blue Skyway bucket or a car from Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and to snap photos of Dumbo the Flying Elephant, a pirate ship from Peter Pan's Flight, and a yellow original PeopleMover vehicle -- one of only 13 known still to exist. But co-owner Mike Van Eaton says this auction is his largest by far, calling it "one of the most amazing private collections I've ever seen.""You don't see a lot of people with, say, a Space Mountain car in their backyard, or a 40-foot-long sea serpent, for that matter, by their swimming pool. It's the kind of collection you'll see once in a lifetime," says Van Eaton.Kraft had purchased items for his collection at past Van Eaton auctions, and sought out Mike when he decided to finally follow Elsa's command from "Frozen" and "Let it go."One reason Kraft decided to sell: his four-year-old daughter, Daisy, was born with Coffin-Siris Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder causing delays in physical and mental development. Part of the auction's proceeds will go to the Coffin-Siris Foundation, as well as the CHIME Institute, which pursues inclusive education -- schools where children who develop typically, those with special needs, and gifted children learn side by side. His other condition before agreeing to sell: a month-long opportunity for the public to see everything he'd spent 25 years collecting before it is auctioned in a few weeks."We have a very passionate collector who doesn't just want to list items: he wants to share them with everyone," says Van Eaton. "So we had to keep that in mind when we built this exhibition -- make it user-friendly."Thousands of fans already have flocked to see Kraft's treasures, and he's been there to witness the colorful displays spark happy memories as they have for them. 4796
