A federal official says the White House overruled health officials who wanted to recommend that elderly and physically fragile Americans be advised not to fly on commercial airlines because of the new coronavirus. But what about a place to go before it reaches that level? “People may not even know what the problem is but they know that something isn’t quite right so if they call a ‘warmline’ they're going to get somebody on the other end who is nonjudgmental who will listen to them in a way that maybe family or friends aren’t able to,” says Tom Hill with the National Council for Behavioral Health. So what is a "warmline”? Think of it as a pre-crisis call if you're having a problem or just feeling off. Some people may find themselves feeling especially off amid the holiday season. Someone on the other end of the line can provide emotional support. They can also connect you to a peer coach or support group, a mental health agency or general resources that can help with everyday life. Warmlines are helpful for those living in rural areas. A 23-year-old Oregon woman was arraigned on Monday and is facing criminal charges after being accused of ripping off a student's hijab and intentionally desecrating the hijab. Multnomah County (Oregon) District Attorney Rod Underhill announced that Jasmine Renee Campbell, pictured above, would face charges on two counts of bias crime in the second degree, one count of attempted strangulation, one count of harassment and one count of criminal mischief in the third degree. According to Underhill's office, Campbell allegedly approached a 24-year-old Portland State college student from behind and grabbed her hijab. Underhill said the unnamed victim was able to push Campbell away, which is when Campbell then allegedly forcibly took the hijab from the victim. Campbell was then accused of using the hijab to rub it on and across multiple exposed sexually intimate parts of her body, Underhill said, citing court documents.The student, who Underhill's office stated was from Saudi Arabia, said that she no longer feels safe wearing a hijab in public and is relying on alternative methods to cover herself, Underhill said, citing court documents. 1160
