SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Covid Clinic’s debut in San Diego County was a little rocky in April when it was shut down by Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county’s public health officer.Fast forward to today, the operation seems to be running smoothly in both La Mesa and Downtown San Diego.“Since we were one of the first to open in San Diego County, there were some things that were brought to our attention that the county wanted,” said Covid Clinic CEO, Matt Collins. “So once we met each of the items that they were requesting, we’ve been able to continue testing without any issues.”Wooten sent a letter to Covid Clinic stating that the first site at MiraCosta College in Cardiff needed to shut down because the proper credentials to operate were not provided to the county. Test results also were not immediately reported to the county.Collins said the clinic now reports results to the county every day.He said, on average, about 100 to 150 people are tested at the downtown location, while about 350 to 400 are tested in La Mesa.While many testing sites are now limiting COVID-19 tests to those who have symptoms or fall in the high-risk category, Collins said anyone could schedule an appointment online to be tested at Covid Clinic.Across the country, people have also reported significant delays in test results. Covid Clinic offers three different tests, and Collins said they guarantee quick results.“We understand how important it is to get a result quickly,” said Collins.The antibody and antigen tests come with rapid results in just 60 minutes for 0.The nasal swabs require lab testing, but results can still be provided within the same day, the next day, or two days, however, it is a bit pricier.“The price varies from 375 dollars for a guaranteed two-day turnaround to 425 dollars for same-day turnaround. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – California and two other Western states have issued travel advisories that include a 14-day quarantine for those visiting the states or returning home from outside travel.California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee put the advisories into action for their respective states on Friday. The announcement comes as travel is expected to ramp up for the holidays.The advisories urge “visitors entering their states or returning home from travel outside these states to self-quarantine to slow the spread of the virus. The travel advisories urge against non-essential out-of-state travel, ask people to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from another state or country and encourage residents to stay local.”CALIFORNIA TRAVEL ADVISORY ANNOUNCEMENTIn addition to the self-quarantine, the advisories recommend travelers “limit their interactions to their immediate household. The advisories define essential travel as travel for work and study, critical infrastructure support, economic services and supply chains, health, immediate medical care and safety and security.”Newsom said in a news release, “Travel increases the risk of spreading COVID-19, and we must all collectively increase our efforts at this time to keep the virus at bay and save lives.”Brown added, “COVID-19 does not stop at state lines. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit and San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced new policies on de-escalation and an officer's duty to intervene.Mayor Faulconer said the changes come three weeks after he called for a series of public meetings for feedback on community and police relations.“These policies are meant to protect the officer as much as the subject and prevent escalation whenever possible before force is used,” he told reporters.The first of SDPD'S two new stand-alone policies requires officers, when safe and reasonable, to use techniques that can resolve situations either through lower levels of force or no force at all.The second new stand-alone policy requires officers to step in if another officer is using unreasonable force and mandates that they report the incident to a supervisor.“Let me be clear. It's not as though the SDPD was operating without de-escalation tactics before but now the department has separate, expanded stand-alone policies that don't just suggest de-escalation, they require it,” added Mayor Faulconer.“It's an absolute. It's a mandate that if an officer sees an officer using force that is unreasonable for the obstacle that they're trying to overcome, that the officer must intervene,” said Chief Nisleit.Samantha Jenkins with the Community Advisory Board on Police Practices and NAACP San Diego told reporters, “This new level of built-in accountability will hopefully usher in a new culture of policing in San Diego.”“We thank God for everyone that's been a part of this.
