(KGTV) — Ventura Police have arrested a suspect wanted for killing a 55-year-old man in the Midway District on Thanksgiving Day.Forrest Robert Brantley, 38, was taken into custody in Ventura, police announced Wednesday, one day after San Diego Police released his photo to the public.On Nov. 28, SDPD says they received a call about a man who was severely injured in the 3100 block of Sports Arena Boulevard. (KGTV) — Washington state health officials say a patient has died of the novel coronavirus, the first COVID-19 related death in the United States.The victim was described as a male patient at EvergreenHealth Medical Center, who was in his 50s with underlying medical conditions.The governor of Washington state declared a state of emergency Saturday after a man's death.More than 50 people in a Kirkland, Wash., Life Care nursing facility are sick and being tested for the virus, health officials added. A 17-year-old has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a teenage girl at an Alabama high school on Wednesday, the district attorney's office announced.Michael Jerome Barber is charged as an adult in the death of 17-year-old Courtlin Arrington, Jefferson County District Attorney Mike Anderton said in a news release Friday. There’s no denying the popularity of marijuana in the United States, with THC and cannabis products approved for medical use in 33 states. Recreational use is supported in 11 states, including California. The election results are echoed in a 2016 Quinnipiac University poll which showed 81 percent of Americans support medical marijuana legalization. California's support of medical marijuana started more than two decades ago when voters passed Proposition 215, the “Compassionate Use Act of 1996.” Laws calling for regulation of medical marijuana were passed in 2015 and 2016, with recreational marijuana becoming legal in 2018. While voters increasingly approve marijuana legalization in various states across the country, the federal government has been slower to grant permission for use.
