SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- U.S Customs and Border Protection apprehended two suspects wanted in connection to both an attempted homicide and a homicide Wednesday afternoon. According to CBP, the incident began Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry after a 35-year-old U.S. citizen entered the crossing with two other U.S. citizen passengers, a 37-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. The vehicle was escorted to a secure location for processing after officers were alerted that one of the travelers was wanted. After investigating the situation, officers learned that the driver, Monica Cecilia Jimenez was wanted for attempted murder and Omar Alapizco was wanted for homicide by the Oceanside Police Department for the same crime. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Uber will remove all rental bikes and scooters from San Diego next week, the company said Thursday. The rideshare company, which expanded into rentals, will cease its two-wheeled operations Sept. 19. Uber will continue to operate in partnership with Naval Base San Diego and Naval Base Point Loma. “We agree with local elected officials in San Diego who’ve said current micromobility regulations foster an unsustainable operating environment, which is why we’re ending our operations as of today. We look forward to working with the city to develop more sensible regulations,” a company spokesperson told 10News. "This is simply a market correction in an oversaturated industry that jeopardizes the safety of San Diegans and visitors. I continue to call for a moratorium on electric scooters until we develop a fiscally responsible and well thought-out plan that priorities public and environmental safety," said City Councilwoman Barbara Bry.In May, the San Diego City Council implemented new regulations for dockless scooters as a way to increase public safety while also allowing the companies to stay in San Diego. Companies were required to pay a permit fee of about ,000 every six months, create corrals, and enforce a speed limit as low as 3 miles per hour in certain areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  Authorities have identified the man who died after he and another man played a consensual "punching game" in a Gaslamp Quarter sports bar early Saturday morning.Corey Poole, 27, had apparently gone out drinking at the downtown sports bar with a group of friends. The group arrived at the Jolt’n Joe’s at 379 Fourth Avenue just before 1 a.m. Police say both men were drinking when they decided to have a punching contest.Police say that Poole and a friend began "consensually sparring" and punching each other in the chest.  During the game, Poole fell to the ground and became unresponsive, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said.Staff at the bar performed CPR on the 27-year-old who was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital where he died about an hour later."The decedent and a friend began consensual sparring, consisting of concurrently punching each other with closed fists on the chest," the Medical Examiner's Office said, describing what police had previously called "playing a punching game.""After receiving several punches to the chest, the decedent was struck and immediately collapsed and became unresponsive," the Medical Examiner's Office said.Officials are still working to determine whether Poole's death was an accident, a homicide or something else.Poole's friend, who remained at the location and was hospitalized for chest pain, was not arrested and it's unclear if charges against him will be filed. 1502

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Sheriffs deputies detained a man in Lemon Grove this afternoon, who may be connected to an early morning carjacking.It was supposed to be a routine check-up. A 76-year-old woman was going in for a 7 a.m. eye appointment at a medical office on the 3900 block of Fourth Avenue in Hillcrest.But she never made it.“The man with the gun pointed it at the woman, so I guess it was just taking place, and she scrammed out of there and called 911," a woman named Nancy said. She said her friend witnessed the carjacking happen from across the parking structure.San Diego Police detectives said a shorter, thin, Hispanic man with short hair approached the grandmother, pointed a gun at her face, stole her purse, and drove off in her gray Mazda 3.Officers notified all nearby agencies to search for that car.Then at 9:45 a.m., the car was found on Lemon Grove Way in Lemon Grove. But it was in bad condition. “A few hours later, the Diego Sheriffs Department responded to a hit-and-run that involved that very vehicle, the victim’s vehicle," Lt. Andrew Hoffman of the San Diego Police Department said. Witnesses said the driver of the Mazda 3 hit a parked red Honda Civic, veered into a pole, then ran away.For two hours, investigators set up a perimeter of the area and used a helicopter to look for the car-jacking and hit-and-run suspect. But they came up empty.Then at 2 p.m., detectives did a secondary search of the apartment complex.That is when one of the deputies recognized a wanted man and arrested him. “I guess the guy walked out of the apartment, the other officer saw him from the back of the cop car, must have recognized him," witness Floyd Bloom said. "So that’s when they yanked him out of the car. But he reached for the officer’s taser and his gun. And so they tased him.”San Diego sheriffs deputies said the man they detained is a tall, thin Caucasian man, who was possibly wearing a disguise.Detectives said a curly, black-haired wig fell off of the man during his struggle with police. They also found a rifle and ammunition in the back of his trunk.San Diego County Sheriffs deputies detained the man, then handed him over to the San Diego Police department. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Two women were taken to the hospital after they reportedly climbed a border wall in the Otay Mesa area and then fell from the top.Authorities said emergency crews were dispatched to an area near Britannia Boulevard and Airway Road just before 11 p.m. Tuesday in response to an injury report.Two women apparently tried to climb the border wall, but both fell dozens off feet from the top of the wall and landed in a ravine.After being rescued, the women were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment of injuries considered serious.Three other people were also rescued nearby, but it is unclear if they were taken to the hospital.No other details on the incident were released. 712
