While the center of Hurricane Delta is not expected to be as intense as when the storm had peak winds of 145 mph on Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center expects the storm to grow in size, spreading the impacts over a wide area of the coast. HOUSTON (AP) — A federal judge has ordered the release of children held with their parents in U.S. immigration jails and denounced the Trump administration’s prolonged detention of families during the coronavirus pandemic. U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee’s order Friday applies to children at three family detention centers in Texas and Pennsylvania operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Some have been detained since last year. Citing the recent spread of the virus in two of the three facilities, Gee set a deadline of July 17 for children to either be released with their parents or sent to family sponsors. 632

(KGTV) -- The city of Imperial Beach voted to create a committee to take a look at their contract with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and the department’s use of force policies. During a city council meeting Wednesday night, the council also passed a Black Lives Matter proclamation.The committee will be tasked with looking to see if there are any necessary changes that should or could potentially be made when it comes to spending, looking at the possibility of redirecting funds to other community services. The council agreed that this committee should also make sure the sheriff’s department can still ensure public safety.The vote also came with the condition that the city will hire a consultant to advise them and help with the review.The council agreed to come back with their findings and any recommended changes in 90 days. 877
